Casa Camper is in the initial area of Raval, an original neighborhood undergoing redevelopment. The alley can be crossed by cars but only one passes every now and then, so it is a non-traffic area, not elegant but quiet. The hotel has a nice and original layout. It is located in a completely renovated 19th century building with a dedicated and non-standard design. Maintains an authentic and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are large (we were in a King) with a double bed and also a very comfortable sofa bed. The bathroom is a "cutout" but still functional. The room is cleaned daily with towel change and evening cleaning. The fixtures are new and there is soundproofing but in any case the streets onto which the windows overlook are very quiet and not noisy. The hotel has a terrace, a billiard room with a bar and a small gym. It is oriented towards reducing waste and has an efficient model which is perhaps the reason for the non-exorbitant cost. So no plastic and breakfast, above average, has a small buffet and the rest is ordered à la carte (sweet and savory). Furthermore, included in the price, there is the possibility of drinks and snacks all day long (glass bottles of water, coca cola, fanta, tonic water, sandwiches, single portions of sweets). The staff is friendly and courteous. At check in the operation of the hotel and the area in which it is located is explained. Overall I recommend it for a high level experience but not one of a standard hotel chain.

The complimentary snacks and drinks are great. However, the prices at the honestly bar are quite ridiculous.
Be aware the bar with the pool table is only open on certain days.
Not so positives:
Staff not so friendly - I emailed twice before our stay asking for help with restaurant recommendations - particularly as we arrived on Christmas Eve and we weren’t sure what would be open.
On both occasions the response was poor. The email wasn’t replied to with any care or even responding to the actual questions asked.
Breakfast staff were quite stroppy. Breakfast is served until 11:30 but everything was cleared away by 11:15 and I got an abrupt response when I asked for another coffee.
The sofa bed in the room is creaky.
Tbh for what we paid I think there are better places to stay. This place felt cold and impersonal.
- the central location that allows you to walk in all directions,
- The room very clean and well equipped with XXL bedding. We have used little the small living room but it must be appreciable when it is less beautiful.
- the silence!!! Very rare in hotels: no noise from the street or adjacent rooms.
- the view of the green wall and the shower with its 3 positions;-)
- the possibility to have free snacks and drinks during the day
- the well equipped rooftop and its magnificent view of a large part of the city
-but above all the quality of the reception by the staff of the Lobby. Thank you all and especially the young Swiss woman who answered our many questions with a smile and always had a little word for us. It changes everything to the quality of a hotel.
If I have to find a little flat:
the exorbitant price of breakfast (25 euros/person): prohibitive for us even if it must be of quality.
In short, I recommend with my eyes closed and if I return to Barcelona, it will be Casa Camper again.

The sofa in the living room was turned into a side bed and I was glad to take a nap during the break. The main bed was fluffy and comfortable, and the shower was easy to use with water pressure.
The 24-hour snack I have been preparing on various blogs was not for 24 hours, but for snack time in the afternoon. Drinks seemed OK 24 hours a day, but it was hard to get them in the morning as there was a paid breakfast available.
I used it a few times for a late-night snack when I wasn't hungry, but the pita bread roll sandwich, salad were especially delicious!
I brazenly had more than one refill.
We arrived early on the day of our arrival, but at least they prepared our parents' room first, and we were grateful that we were ready to go.
I wasn't expecting a rooftop view either, but I was able to see Montjuic Hill and see the typical Spanish scenery.
The location is about a 5-minute walk from Plaza Catalunya?
The street in front of the hotel was a bit smelly. It may not be a very secure area. Some were sleeping on the street.
I think it's a good idea to get off and walk at the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona by taxi.
On the last day I discovered there was a supermarket nearby and wished I had found it a little earlier. It looks like it's open until nine.
The part that was inconvenient is having a cozy living room with a hammock, sofa and TV across the hall which myself and my husband never used. We had booked 2 rooms and I know for sure my 13 year old used their living room space and I am sure she used the hammock too. If we had known, I would have booked the suite in which the living area is attached with the room. Definitely next time. Now coming to the toilet. A hand bidet would be a great addition as the bidet in the shower area is inconvenient.
The location is great, a few minutes off Las Ramblas in El Raval, not far from the Plaza de Catalunya, and a fairly easy walk to the beach.
There is a good reason that the name of the hotel is Casa Camper because the staff will make you feel truly at home.
We arrived on a Saturday after a long international flight from the US. Check in was very helpful and were able to get us into our room before check in time. The front desk person escorted us to our room and explained things. The room is comfortable and very functional. We loved having a copious amount of hooks to hang stuff on. The bed was very comfortable and the shower has excellent pressure and good hot water. Air conditioning in the room was exceptional. Everything was clean and in order. House keeping comes and cleans once a day and does a nightly turn down service. The room type that we rented had a “Bonus Room” it was across the hall from our normal room and contained a chair, a couch, a hammock and access to the balcony. This was a great place to relax and store luggage.
The hotel has a cocktail bar with a very talented bartender in the basement. It also has an honor bar on the roof. We used the honor bar several times. It is a nice place to relax and have a few pre dinner drinks. It also has an ice maker with plenty of ice which is hard to find anywhere I have been in Europe.
During the day the downstairs dining area has snacks and refreshments. This is nice if you just need a stack to keep you going until the late dinners. Also nice to have a Coke/coffee when you want. The have a large machine that you can fill water bottles with cold filtered water as well.
All in all. I really enjoyed it. It’s well maintained and seems very well managed. I would definitely stay again.

"A fabulous hotel. Don't be discouraged because it is in Raval. The neighborhood is fine and the location is excellent!"Read full review
