I would highly recommend Solyk to anyone staying in Barcelona. The staff was amazing each time we asked for help - we received fantastic meal recommendations and helpful tips when trying to see the sights. The location was in the center of everything.

This was my second time staying at Solyk. My first experience was faultless as I was dealing with one of the girls there who was super nice and helpful, however, when trying to book this time I was looking to rent a couple of rooms but didn't get a reply on the second room from Phillipe so my friends had...

Philippe the hotel Manager (Who looks and dresses like a tourist!) From La Rambla road Turn and keep left when you Cosmo eating place and you will find it easy. At the heart of the Gothic Quarter, old building like most of the rest and talking to other travelers possibly the best location. Close to La Rambla road going to...

We stayed in Sol y k for four nights. It is situated on a narrow street in the 'Barri Gotic' and we walked passed it the first time! The room was clean and plenty big enough for our needs. It had a sink and a balcony but no wardrobe. The shutters kept all the light out at night but it...

The rooms on the top floor have a beautiful view outside of the city. We also stayed in one of the rooms on the 4th floor and it was very nice. The people at Solyk are so friendly and accommodating. If you stay in the gotic area, this is a good location. Try to avoid staying on La Ramblas or...

A friend and I stayed here for two nights and we really enjoyed it. It was clean, comfortable, convenient, and a great value. Located right in the Gothic Quarter, we had a balcony from our room overlooking the tiny streets. The bathrooms were always very clean and Maria, the young lady who works at the reception, was very helpful and...

Just spent a four night break here and couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome or better location. Our room was absolutely immaculate, we were right in the Gothic quarter and a ten minute walk from the underground station. We got tips on travel, food and tourist traps to miss. Excellent value, funky interiors and would have no hesitation to...

I just stayed here for 4 nights a week ago and had a great time. The hostal / guest house has a perfect location, right in the centre of old town Barcelona. It's on the second floor and the building has an elevator. You get your own keys to go in and out whenever you want to, which I absolutely...

I just stayed with my boyfriend at this place for 5 nights and it was absolutely amazing. Located right in the heart of everything, we were able to walk almost everywhere. The rooms are clean and the beds were comfortable. There was noise constantly outside, but we liked it. We felt it added to the experience - a place that...

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

“If you want your room to be a bit less noisy, ask for a room on the backside of the building (these are the rooms without balcony, but you still get a window and a bit more sleep so, in my opnion, it's worth it). Also, carefully look at the map and the pictures of what the door and sign looks like before you get to the hostal, because it's quite difficult to see!”
