We booked this trip on Priceline with the requirements of 4 star and in La Rambla / La Barceloneta and we ended up with this hotel. The location was okay, but was at the edge of the entire Las Ramblas area. The rooms were hardly that of a 4 star. It was more like a 2.5/3 star. The rooms were...

Although other people might be dissatisfied with dullness (hard-euro-beds, dark hallways, dated decor), I thought the 'Sunotel Central' to have all the hotel commodities I needed and which were lacking in other Barcelona hotels (2 points for the pool & free wifi). The Specifics: - Great location! Just a 3 minute walk from the subway & a few steps from...

We travelled to Barcelona for a three day city break and were looking for a central hotel that was good value for money. This hotel had some good reviews on here so I tried booking it through laterooms.com but was messed around (entered all my details only for it to say it was full when it said it wasn't), so...

Overall, my stay here was great. I'm VERY picky and paranoid about cleanliness, and the room was definitely quite clean. Looking at positives and negatives: Positives: Location (although a bit further from LaRamblas than I thought), AC was great, FREE WI-FI IN ROOM (huge for me), clean, the hotel seemed into being environmentally friendly Negatives: Walls are paper thin, everytime...

Secured this hotel for $100 USD / night on priceline bidding. It's blocks from La Rambla ( the main tourist, bar street). I have not yet seen anything in same value. First the bad: - the pool is very small ... but still good for cooling off - the hot tub is not hot and serves no purpose - the...

Considering that Barcelona is quite expensive--especially with the dollar-to-euro rate, this was a good value. I believe they claim to be rated 4 stars, but I would have thought that the rooms are too small to deserve such a rating--at least in the US. Pluses: Rooms are very clean, 24-hour front desk staff extremely friendly and helpful with ALL questions...

Wonderful Hotel, location, staff in the beautiful city of Barcelona! Stayed during the time FC Barcelona won La Liga and the whole city came out to play - fantastic, even for a die hard Villa fan. This city loves it's team and it's football. Our room was at the back of the hotel and overlooking private residential apartments - very...

I stayed here recently. Awesome location, very close to metro, aerobus (great for airport transport), and las ramblas. I mainly want to comment on how appreciative I was of the staff and the hotel. I was in Barcelona recently during the football riot on May 27. I ended up with my hotel key pickpocketed. The key was a regular key...

Sunotel Central sells as a 4 star hotel but I think this is somewhat misleading. There is nothing seriously wrong with the hotel, but if you'd told me it was a 3 star, I would have been satisfied. The location is good (about 5-10min walk from the top of La Rambla), but other than that, everything else was average. For...

The hotel was given to us through Priceline bidding as a 4* rating. The first impression of the hotel appearance and lobby do not look like a 4*. Following is my observation: Pros: 1. The room is clean but very basic. 2. The front staff and the maid was helpful. We needed to have hot water to drink because of...

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
