The building that now houses the Hotel Abat Cisneros has provided accommodation for pilgrims since its original construction in 1563. The conversion of this old monastery building into a hostel in the late 1950s effectively turned it into an establishment of outstanding interest. Later reforms modernised the facilities, ensuring that services provided to guests by the Hotel Abat Cisneros meet the highest standards as regards quality and comfort.

We loved our visit here. The rooms are backs but very nice. Our bed was firm and the room very clean. Make sure you get up for the sunrise. Itā€™s amazing!

The concierge was helpful in directing us to the evening vespers service as well as the various hiking trails. Late February is a lovely time to go as it is quiet.

Amazing experience to base ourselves right next to the Basilica, with views of the serrated peaks. Church bells added to the ambience. we drove down from our Pyrenees vacation and checked in around 10 AM. Offer showing our hotel reservation to the security guard, we were allowed to drive up to the hotel to drop off our bags. There is a inexpensive parking located a little bit downhill, about a five minute walk from the hotel. The room was very classy with vintage , antique furniture. The evenings and nights are magical, after the day-trip crowds have left. Heartily recommend a stay here! There seemed to be no convenience stores nearby. We had what we needed, so, no issues

This hotel is right at the heart of the Montserrat complex, in a building previously used to accommodate the monks. The staff at reception were pleasant and efficient. My room was of a good size, recently decorated, and with a large comfortable bed. The only downside of the whole stay was the view from my window : a rock face, about a metre away. I guess I had a 50% chance of this since the hotel is built against the rock face: half the rooms will have a great view, the other half will face the rocks; I ought to have thought of specifically reserving a room facing out. Dinner in the restaurant (an elegant room) was very good and not at all expensive; very good service. The breakfast (a buffet) was very good too.
Top tip : make sure that your window is closed or else youā€™ll be woken very early by the church bells.
My only regret is that I didnā€™t have time to stay a 2nd night: thereā€™s a lot of mountain to explore above the monastery.
In sum, highly recommended.

The location is excellent; cleaning service and cleaning staff are very good and kind.

If it werenā€™t for the location of the hotel near the monastery, it would be very difficult for them to survive as business, let alone succeed. Indeed, I would not return a second time there and nor would recommend it to friends and colleagues.

We were in a pilgrim visit from 30 July- 3 August 2022. During these days some unpleasant things happen to our group:
- Evening staff made up of two young boys at the reception, was arrogant and unprofessional.
- Service staff at the restaurant in the evening of 1 August ( in the separate hall for groups) was impolite and no word of English and absolutely an ignorant behaviour:
After we finished dinner, usually members of our group gathered in the lobby all aged 50 and over, all very intellectuals and high standards professionals. The only joy was to have a glass of wine together. That very evening of 1 August we headed for the same thing and got from the table those unfinished bottles for which we paid. The waiter came and took it from our hands and kicked us out. I went thereafter with the leader of our group and talked to the maitre, who allowed us to take our bottles and go in the lobby.
I question myself, is this a gentleman behavior?

We are an elderly couple living in Southeast Asia. Whenever we come to Barcelona, we always come to Montserrat for a day trip. We ate at the restaurant in this hotel with a Spanish couple of friends who live in Barcelona. As I recall, the lunch course was about 5,000 yen per person. I chose a beef steak for the main course. It was an exquisite medium rare and incredibly delicious. I think the whole meal was delicious, including the dessert. The atmosphere was also nice. I'm not sure if it was because we were with local people, but we were not treated differently at the restaurant. The staff all had lovely smiles and worked efficiently. There are other cafeterias and restaurants in Montserrat, but Abad Cisneros is always here when we come to Montserrat because we can have a leisurely chat while eating. It may be expensive, but I think the satisfaction level is high.

We stayed here, instead of the nearby hostel, because a space became available. Our first night was in the most distant room possible, without WiFi, where we were locked in until 8 a.m. the next morning. They moved us to a much nicer room, where we enjoyed the convenience. Montserrat gets thousands of visitors every day, but empties out at night until the first busses arrive in the morning. The evenings and mornings especially were delightful. The Hotel's restaurant, the only source of evening food, had a delicious but repetitive menu. The breakfast buffet was limited. Montserrat and it mountain was a highlight of our trip.

Atypical Inn. A real experience.
On the other hand an odious butler who ruined our stay at this establishment. We don't recommend this property because of this person...
Bar permanently closed...including before meals...group of 13 people sidelined in an ultra sleazy room for dining...

Overall a very poor experience.
Before we even arrived I emailed the hotel on 3 occasions and all were ignored. Like other reviewers their communication is non existent.
When we arrived our double room booking turned into a twin room. We tried to get a tea/coffee but none available and were sent to the local cafeteria that was closed.
We asked for a dinner reservation that was made at the wrong time, the internet didnā€™t work and so on. I sound like a whinger but it was a pretty ordinary experience.
The rooms? Clean and very basic but we probably already knew that before arriving - didnā€™t disappoint!

It is located next to the Abbey. Once you go the hordes of tourists, the place becomes very quiet and atmospheric. To visit the site, Recommendation to stay here so you can make a visit without jostling.
Rest and cleanliness TOP.
I was not thrilled by the restaurant: quite expensive and with a set menu, whether you like it or not

My wife booked thru well known online agent and we tried to cancel the day before due to covid reasons. The online agent sent messages about the cancellation but no responses from the hotel. We tried to call the hotel three times but their reception did not answer. To date no response about our cancellation or request for credit or change booking dates or refund. Just no response.
