Great Parador - sadly the rooms are in need of a major renovation. ( Just do the whole hotel while you're about it).

We were warned that there may be a slight smoke smell in the room - couldn't be that bad we thought ? Wrong. The smell was not smoke but a faulty sewage system to the awful showers that have been placed where there was a bath.

10/10 for the shower part of the bath but 0/10 for using a wooden base covered with slippery roof paint. Most dangerous to use this shower as it is so slippery.

The connection between the sewer and mains water and outlets is faulty. But then - I am sure you do not need paying guests to inform you on how to fix this absolute mess.

It is absolutely disgusting to allow anyone to sleep in this room let alone use the bathroom the following morning. We did manage to get the smell away that night by closing all the floor vents with beautiful Parador white towels.

The floors need to be mopped and cleaned not just swept.

You need 10 cleaners for 10 days cleaning every single room until they are clean again. Check that the curtains close. Check the black out curtains - they need urgent cleaning / replacing. Check that the beds do not squeak.
Windows and mirrors cleaned all the way up to the top and not only to where the cleaner can reach.

Get a woman - who cares - in charge of the cleaning.

Great reception staff !

Mr. Manager - please don't give me your usual copy and paste response - I will not be coming back but fix fix and fix some more for future unsuspecting visitors to your lovely area.

Bathroom facilities in public areas need fixing and cleaning, as not all users pay attention to keeping them as clean as possible. In addition, the services of gentlemen are quite uncomfortable because of their small size and position of the facility. A modernization of the furniture and the implantation of shower plates in the rooms are necessary, since many older people frequent the parador and need more facilities when bathing. Otherwise, the treatment has been excellent both in reception, as well as in the bar and restaurant. The cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms are also excellent. The living room and common areas are cozy to spend a relaxed time in friendly company.

We stayed at this hotel in May at the start of the summer season. It is an OK hotel but is in need of modernisation. No modern room key cards here. Big bulky old fashioned brick keys which weigh you down if you try to carry the key in your pocket.

The rooms are serviced and cleaned daily but TV doesn’t work. The mini bar however in the rooms is very cheap.

The beds are sadly rock hard. I had back ache by the end of the first night of our week long stay.

As for breakfast, there is a good choice of breakfast but they do not advertise the cost of breakfast and seem to make it up day-day.

Being the start of the summer season, it was disappointing the pool was not available. The city pool was however available, but forget asking the male members of staff if you can borrow a hotel towel to take to the city pool. We was told no even though when we challenged them what would we use if the hotel pool was open, they replied the hotel towels!

As for the staff, the women are very friendly, but the male members of staff are not so pleasant and you can tell they have worked here many years and the younger members of staff or women seem scared to challenge them.

It’s ashame I couldn’t rate this hotel higher as it has potential which needs a leader with a vision to unlock its potential through a modernisation programme and replacing some members of the team.

I stayed here at the Hotel for 2 nights, whilst visiting Ceuta. The only downside was the 'Drain smell' in my room (although I left the door open, which helped get rid of it). The hotel is a bit old fashioned in regard to the furniture and the very big key fob, which did weigh a bit...... However, there are many positives. My room was a good size and had a comfy bed. The view from the Balcony was very nice (Pool Side) and it was nice to just sit on the balcony and relax. The bathroom was adequate size and clean. There is a safe, TV, aircon and minibar in the room (which was not to pricey), but that was about it. There was no noise from the outside (although, it was winter time and outside pool area was closed).

The hotel has a bar, which was well stocked and reasonably priced. We had breakfast on the morning we left. There was the usual buffet style and also a choice of cooked breakfast. All of which was nice.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The selling point for me was the price and location of the hotel. It is a 10/15 min walk from the ferry port and a short walk into town/ tourist attractions.

I would stay here again if I visit Ceuta.

Very good experience, good location, good attention from the staff, very clean, good food. Excellent overall.
I chose a room for three, and it was very comfortable, with three single beds, comfortable, new and clean sheets, very large towels, something that I loved. Highly recommended.

Deficient in commercial spirit.
Establishment quite compliant with 4* standards. Courteous welcome, spacious but outdated lobby, rather comfortable room, quality linen, generous courtesy supplies.
Off-putting corridor carpeting, free but neglected parking, no emergency evacuation plan, exit TV / tel directories, empty nails on the walls, disconnection of Moroccan TV channels.
For the commercial spirit it is necessary to iron. Indeed, for 2 nights expandable, I had booked and paid 4 ch including 2 with children and without pdj. The death of the father of one of the ns travellers reduced to 3 hp without children. All the accommodations offered at the time at the hotel were refused indiscriminately, even if they would lead to sales of pdjs and an extension of our stay.
Morality, this hotel will be removed from my address book since its managers do not know how to sacrifice an egg to get an ox.

Our room was a bit small, but it was comfortable enough. I agree with previous reviewers who said that the hotel and the rooms were a bit old fashioned. The bed was comfortable and there was little noise. The wifi was not consistent, and frequently the connection dropped. We had a good view of the Straits of Gibraltar and the view of the sun on the east side of Gibraltar was great. The breakfast was very good. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent, being equidistant between the ferry terminal and the main squares in the centre of town. The Plaza de Africa is a magnificent square right outside the main door of the Parador. The Murallas Reales, the Royal Walls, Ceuta’s most impressive sight, are less than 5 minutes away. I guess that we are too used to staying in apartments or studios. We stayed in 34 apartments or studios in 2024 and only 3 hotels.

The first thing that stands out in the Parador de Ceuta is how deteriorated all the facilities are. Not only ancient, but poorly preserved.
The staff is friendly, but clearly insufficient and in many cases without the necessary qualifications for this job.
The list of errors and defects in the 5 days we have been could be endless. Below is a sample of the things we have seen:
Facilities:
- Reception toilets deteriorated and with permanent feeling of dirt. Rusty pieces in the urinals. Rusty stopcocks and missing trim.
Rusted bedroom mirror at the edges.
Bedroom armchair with broken seat.
Operation:
Dead cockroach in the breakfast access corridor
- Ants on breakfast pastry trays
On Saturday the 10th, the ladies' toilets were just "filthy."
Attention:
- The cafe/restaurant is a real mess, everything is malfunctioning. Only one of the employees stands out for their attention. Examples:
Sit in the cafeteria and give us the letter. 15' minutes later tell us the kitchen is closed.
- Bring us the dessert menu and have to leave 30' later without anyone coming to ask what we wanted for dessert (we had to get up to order it)
-Serve us the main dishes, pick them up, and then come one of the employees to ask us who was going to take fish to put our cutlery.
Order drink, tell us to wait a minute, and start serving other tables. 10' later, we had to insist again that he attend us.
Order a coffee and water, tell us to sit down and take it. Having to get up after 15' to ask if there was a coffee problem and then say "oh, I forgot."
-All the times we have consumed in cafeteria and restaurant we have been charged less. The first day I told him, the rest of the time I thought it was a joke and I stopped telling him.
- Clearly improved reception service. On one occasion we had to call three-four times from the garage to stop opening the door, without answer. In the end I had to go to reception in person to have the garage opened and be able to leave with the car.
One of the days he stained his blood sheet. They made the bed from the same sheet. Another day they forgot to replenish toilet paper.
Each of these mistakes could be passable. But the whole series gives such a negative image that we will never return.

This is a 1960/1970s hotel which ruins what are beautiful gardens, old buildings and church’s, in the otherwise pristine square.
I really want to like this place but the truth is it’s tired. The rooms are just tired with patched up holes in doors and walls and with a Corby trouser press (yes they are still out there) looking like it’s pressed its last pair of Farahs and been in retirement for some years.
The lamp in the corner is leaning, Pisa style, and I am dreading waking up in the middle of the night to a cry of ‘timber’
The room was 27 degrees when I arrived so I thought I’d get the aircon switched to cold and soon be comfortable, but you can imagine my horror when all that came out was hot air and the temperature started climbing. As we all do I started pressing all the buttons and in no particular order, but to no avail, so I contacted reception only to be told it’s winter so it can’t be turned down.
Fortunately I had a balcony door so I opened it just in time to her the Ceuta Sea Gulls and Scavengers choir start their evening long recital of ‘you shall have a fishy on a little dishy’
And finally the shower, it’s fair to say I had to dance a good jig to get wet. Now one thing we all like is a good shower in the morning...this unfortunately Is not that shower.
So let’s take a few positives; rooms are clean and the hotel is right in the centre town. It has lovely views, very good private parking and the young lady at reception was ever so helpful....
Conclusion - no matter how much you polish a piece of coal it will never be a diamond

The hotel by itself is ok, however, the normal Moroccan staff weren’t there as it was their Eid and the Spanish staff all had scowls on there faces, never smiled, ignored me when I asked to be seated, waited on tables that arrived 10-15 minutes after me before waiting on me (presumably because I was a solo traveler or a foreigner and not Spanish - this was told by other foreigners).

Even on checking the elderly gentleman wouldn’t smile and was rude.

Wifi was terrible and the tv runs off your phone/pad/computer. Couldn’t use phone if tablet was connected to wifi.

They also charged exceptionally high prices for orange juice as opposed to other establishments.

Would never go back.
