I stayed at Fuencarral Kryse for three nights and was very happy with the place. I had a private room with bathroom which I found to be very clean. The location was brilliant, right off Gran Via and in easy walking distance to great nightlife spots. My only concern was that it was not a 24 hour reception (as was...

This hostal is well positioned, near Gran Via metro station (less than 5 min by foot) so you can get anywhere really fast. Also near a lot of restaurants that are open late at night, so you can go grab a bite to eat after watching a football match. I got a private room with a bed for 2 people,...

Este hostal está muy bien ubicado en Fuencarral, las habitaciones no son muy grandes, pero está tranquilo y el personal super simpático. MUY RECOMENDABLE :) Very nice hostel, not very big rooms, but quiet, you can actually sleep at night! Very kind and smiling people working there, clean and nice place. I´ll return next time. I spent one night in this hostel, that for position, quality/price is absolutely to try. In the hearth of Fuencarral, you can easily go everywhere in the city center just walking. 4 mins walking to Gran Via Metro station. Personnel available and welcoming. rooms are small, and surely being in the heart of nightlife is often a little bit noisy,...

Just back from our trip to Madrid where we stayed at this hostal. We arrived at midnight but the owner was there to book us in with a smile. Our room was basic but clean with the towels changed every 2 days and room tidied daily. We had keys to all doors so could come and go at will. The...

This hostel is good value for money - look out for the discounts on lastminute.com. It's very centrally located so is great if like us you like to walk everywhere you go. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The only issue we had was that the walls are paper thin, so we could hear everything that was going...

Great location! The room wasn't a palace, but it wasn't a dump either. It was clean. The bed was comfortable, the decor non-existent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. You do have to ring the doorbell to be let in at night. Frankly, it didn't bother us at all. We never heard it. This is not a place to...

Excellent location (close to Puerta del Sol and Subway "Gran Via", "Chueca" and "Tribunal"), clean enough, not very expensive for the central location and surrounded by pubs and beautiful stores. Rooms are small but quite comfortable (in every room there's only the essential but that's enough). Actually there's only a (big) problem: the walls are really thin, you can hear...

The Hostal was average, the staff was apparently very nice. But the last day of our stay somebody stole my camera with all my pictures from the trip and a bracelet (not really expensive one). I also notice that somebody went trough my bag opening the inside zipper but fortunatly i left my money and cards inside the safe box....

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
