Very uncomfortable beds. Only one flat pillow available. Air conditioning did not work. No extractor in bathroom. Very noisy neighbourhood, can't get to sleep. No tea/coffee facilities in the room. No English television channels. Not a family friendly area. Very close to Gran Via, great selection of cafes in the area. Lovely friendly staff - very helpful, they booked our...

Hotel is in a shabby area of Madrid, the double bed was in fact 2 single beds pushed together, not good for your back!!! Customer service terrible. We left after two days Christmas ruined. Lucky we got last two flights back. We are a mature couple and we're looking forward to a great Christmas break, the area is full of...

Excellent location with Tribunal Metro the nearest serving the airport (only 1 change) and Gran Via just round the corner. Nice rooms and 'ladies of the day and night' outside no real problem. On booking 2 stays this year the prices have increased considerably and I don't think it's all related to £/€. Checking in late at night you may...

Location is great as it the price! Would recommend to others for somewhere central and affordable. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Clean rooms, bathrooms are a little older but great powerful showers! Go for a room on the end of a corridor if you can as we noticed on our last night that the rooms aren't very sound proof...

The hostel is very well located, just one block from Gran Via. The hostel is between two metro stations with a short walk to either. The rooms are very clean and spacious along with the bathroom. It is possible to hear the other people in the hostel, as the walls are somewhat thin. The hostel has an internet area if...

Nicely priced, clean comfortable beds, good water pressure and A/C. Very close to city centre and we walked everywhere- Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor. Lots of "ladies of pleasure" hanging around outside in the street so definitely not for kids! They didn't bother us so, didn't really mind.

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
