I think the title I wrote summarizes my experience. It is very conveniently located, next to Plaza España, close to the subway, with many restaurants and shops easily available. The breakfast was underwhelming (limited options like one type of bread, the scrambled eggs didn't look too good, mediocre machine coffee, etc). The room was Ok, although I had to close the shower every now and then while showering as otherwise, it would flood. The internet was absolutely horrible. Some people don't care about that, and if you don't, then I would recommend this hotel. I was on a business trip and thus it was very important for me to have a working Internet connection; this was not the case. It would drop every couple of minutes, the speed was horrible, etc. All in all, I wouldn't really stay here again. It is not terrible, but there are better places to stay.

The hotel is easily accessible via metro (Plaza de España station). It’s very close to the Real Palacio de Madrid on one side and Gran Via on the other. We were given a room with a terrace which took us by surprise and we are very grateful to Espahotel for that. It had more than enough room for us and the amenities were very much made available for us. The hotel has great value for money and we were very pleased with our stay that it definitely entered our list of the best hotels we have stayed in. The receptionists spoke both English and Spanish so communication was never a problem. In line with this, I’d like to thank Roberto and Jaime for being kind and helpful to us. Finally, they allowed us to have our luggage stored which made it convenient for us since we didn’t have to drag our bags with us as we toured. I highly recommend staying in Espahotel. Muchas Gracias!

This hotel is under renovation (drilling in the next room started at 8am). Our first room had tired decor and furniture. After a few days there was some problem with the electricity (or something?!) and the elevator and water were not working (preventing us from leaving the hotel as we have a child in a stroller). We were repeatedly assured it would be fixed “in two hours” but the technicians only came the next day. After 6 hours with no water we asked to move rooms. Our new room appeared beautifully renovated but the shower overflowed all over the bathroom floor and the air con didn’t work during the day. With some improvements, this could be a decent three star hotel, but it’s not there yet. Location is good (right between Grand Via and the Palace). Television was the biggest we saw in Spain (where they all seem to be tiny). And a big bonus, there was an actual double bed (rather than the usual two singles pushed together)!

We chose Espahotel because of its convenience. Espahotel Plaza de Espana is located in the heart of Madrid, shopping, restaurants, transportation, etc. right there. It is connected to an up-scale hotel VIP next door, and have a breakfast room on the other side of the entrance. Easy. The staff was knowledgable, and Mariano was great! He gathered and printed out my boarding pass when I had troubles. The rooms are very clean, and our view was of ornate buildings and the beauty of Spain. That being said, our room was quiet, the taxis called for and on time, the relind buses just up the block, and shopping and restaurants around the corner and up the block. All kinds of eateries, including American and expensive.
