The hotel rooms are comfortable good size rooms with a kitchen area. Hotel is very close to Gran Via main shopping area and close to Palace both can be walked to in under 10 minutes. Nearest Metro stop is Plaza De Espana just across the road from hotel there you can access yellow and blue line. Also across the road...

This hotel is located in Plaza de Espana, which is a really good point to start visiting Madrid; only 2 minutes from the Gran Via with its shops and restaurants and 5 minutes from the Royal Palace which is one of the major attractions. Our room was spacious even for three people with a small kitchen inside, it was clean...

Upon arrival our room had a terrible tobacco smell and two single beds although we specified that we needed one double bed. After much insistence and making absolutely clear that we had to get a room change, staff found a way to do so (even after mentioning this was impossible). Previously, we asked (using the Booking.com app chat) how much...

We stayed here for three nights on our trip to Madrid. What we liked about this hotel was particularly great location to nightlife and a metro station is which less than a block. The usual check-in time is noon but since we got there early due to our early flight, the staff was cool to offer us room as soon...

This hotel is ideally located in the heart of Madrid, access to central Madrid is easy with the Plaza de Expana metro very close not even 5 minutes, there are beautiful gardens across the road, with fountains that are a main stable of Madrid. The Hotel is very well equipped, small kitchen area in room is very handy, all kitted...

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel. We had a regular room with breakfast. Hotel is dated, but bedsheets and bathroom are clean , witch is very important . We only slept in our room, so it didn't really meter how dated the room is. The most important was that hotel located next to the Royal palace and we were able...

Since our flight from the US arrived at 8:00, we got to the hotel at around 10:00AM, much earlier than the check-in time. In many hotels I have stayed it, they let you wait because the rooms aren't ready, but this hotel not only had a room available, they even upgraded us to a suite. Much appreciated after a 13...

I recommend this hotel. Location was great, our room was on the first floor, looking on the Spanish square (Plaza espana). Main street (Gran via) is just around the corner, and Royal palace on the other corner. So everything was close to visit on foot. Room was nice and clean, breakfast also good.

I stayed here in Mar/Apr with 2 friends. The location is great (right at Gran VIa) & the staff are very friendly & helpful. The rooms are basic but clean. Palace, cathedral, Temple de Bod are walking distance & it is very close to the metro station.

Location was excellent- very close to metro station, gran via. Palace, cathedral, Temple de bod are within walking distance. Plaza mayor and Sol also very close - not walking distance for us. Staff friendly. Room booked was for triple bed - but one given was 2 single beds and 1 extra bed. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room- although...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
