Just around the corner of Metro station and actually quite close to the attraction, you can walk to the gran via, plaza sol and othet attractions as well. Very clean, budget price and breakfast included, plus friendly staff as well so basically you cant complain. The location is not difficult to find but the signage is quite small - just... More

-- Single room review. -- I like to travel (ultra) light and always on a bargain. Sometimes this includes the acceptance of some spartanic hostels (when it crosses my path). By location this hostel is top-notch (was (almost) the only selection criteria, when i booked this hotel). By location you are in the centre of everything. Metrostations are everywhere within... Set back 100m from the Gran Via, Madrid's cultural and shopping artery, this guesthouse couldn't be closer to the centre of the action. A pair of sturdy legs will take you from here to everywhere you want to go in central Madrid and back again. For the less energetic, it's two minutes from the Callao metro station. The excellent location... More

More a guesthouse vs hostal. Rooms and bathroom are a bit tired and funny smelling but overall clean. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and the windows were literally rattling from noise from the busy nearby main street. Lots of working girls downstairs at the entrance but hostal itself is quite safe with fingerprint! entry. Don't bother asking... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
