All.i can say is avoid there got to be better hostels in the area I seen loads ! This place somewhat resembled a prison cell cross with a sweat shop! Vile ! No windows, weird stains on ceiling! Two rubbish fans stuck on wall that served no purpose. The shared shower was gross and the shower curtain had mould patches...

This hostel is perfect for people that are on a low budget. We are embarrassed that we do not have enough Spanish to speak to the owner but her daughter done all the translations for us and we got a private room that suited us perfectly for €11.50 ech. Located near the metro. The floors are amazingly clean!!! Fan in...

It is an old, really run down apartment converted into a cheap hotel. My room was tiny and without any windows, and nothing like the one in the photos—the walls were extremely dirty and it looked more like a prison cell. I could not sleep because of my neighbors making noise having sex and playing music. Being a room in...

Only positive about this place is the location, near puerta del sol. Everything else in the hostel is the epitomy of disaster. "Staff" are rude and can only speak spanish. Level of service is beyond low and not professional. The staff themselves are presumably a family and make most of the noise. They are highly temperamental and do not have...

Got around 15-20 bug bites that showed up about a week after. Didn't find any bugs at the hostel so can't so if it was bed begs, fleas or whatever. But that didn't change the fact that i got handfuls of small bites on arms, legs, hands. Must have been what that funny smell was all about (pesticides of some...

The only good for me in this place is the location. Is really near of Puerta del Sol and bar streets. The service is really bad and they give you bad treatment. Is NOT a HOSTEL is like more a guest house or something like that. If you are searching a hostel to know more people , this is not...

The manager was very friendly but that was about the only positive. We booked 4 nights but only stayed the one. The windows and shutters did not close which meant the noise from the street below kept us awake all night - still going at 6 a.m. The electrical outlets were hanging off the wall. Definitely the worst place I...

The hostel is nothing like the pictures! The rooms seem like an actual closet with a sink and you have to share a very unpleasant bathroom and shower with the whole floor. Even though the live in host is really nice and the price is too good to be true DONT GO THERE. My boyfriend and I had the hostel...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
