I stayed in a private room with bed, TV, air conditioning, and ensuite with shower. It was very clean, comfortable and considering the location (a 2 minute walk to Puerta del Sol), not too noisy. The staff were very kind and friendly and when I encountered a problem with my room, they resolved it immediately. I was able to leave...

The hostel is very very close to the center of Madrid, where only needs 3 minutes walking from the Sol metro station. Room space and facility quality are just fine. We can open our 2 big baggage in the room. I had a couple of nice nights here. Very suitable for student travelers or who want relatively cheap price hotel...

Cozy small hotel. Very clean, not a lot of room in the room, just enough to get ready for the day/night. The guy that checked us in was very polite and answered all our questions. Only downfall, our room faced the street and it gets very loud with the bar next door on Saturday nights, nothing ear plugs couldn't handle!...

Cozy and well-decorated; our stay was nice and worth it. The staff is really nice, chatty and helpful. The rooms are not too small and have all the basic facilities. The decoration is nice too. The double beds are bigs and genuine; not just two single ones put together. They sell cold drinks 24h, the wifi is good. The location,...

Fantastic location just a minute or two from Sol Metro. This hostal is right in the middle of the Madrid nightlife so great for exploring. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable as well as a great price for our stay mean that I would happily recommend.

This location was clean, private, and very nice. It's on the fourth floor of an old building, felt very safe. Friendly staff, good recommendations of flamenco show, some limited English depending on whose working. Stayed there on my first and only trip to Spain, visiting Madrid (and then Barcelona), will definitely stay there again if I ever go back! Within...

Incredible location right in the centre of Madrid. Wonderful bars and tapas restaurants right on your doorstep. Despite the central location there was no noise with the balcony door closed. Very comfortable bed and great quality shower - perfect after a long day walking around the city. Luggage storage very useful for a late evening flight. Good value. Would recommend...

I have spent a day in Madrid on the way back home, from Cuba. Bergantin is located centrally, very close to Puerta del Sol. Settled on the 4th floor of a nice building, newly decorated and a clean place. The staff is helpfull and smiling. My single room was a little bit smaller, with a single bed, but wasn't a...

Very nice hostel. Had a single room which was small but cozy. My only complaint was that the noise from the lobby/ main area could be heard acutely from my room. Staff were friendly and helped facilitate my plans but didn't offer many suggestions.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
