The location is great, walking distance to all major central areas, the museo del prado is only 5 mins away.the hostal is very basic,ok if thats what you were expecting...the worst thing was the noise, you can hear everything from loud plumbing, voices, televisions until late at night and then early in the morning which was very offputting and disturbed sleep unfortunately.

A lovely quiet room facing onto the back courtyard, so no view but no disturbance from street revellers, street cleaners, etc, which happens in other hostages. Good bathroom. air-conditioning noisy but works well. Sadly no tea-making facilities in the room, which were promised when we booked! Very clean. A lovely vestibule and an interesting old lift. Right near to the...

My brother and I stayed at Hostal Cervantes in June for a couple of nights. The location is perfect....within walking distance to everything you need and want to do. The rooms are small but clean. What really makes this place is Howard. He treats you like his very own house guest.

Stayed 4 nights. The location is good for tapas bars, shops and Sol And Plaza Mayor. It's a historical part of Madrid. The room is adequate. The bed is very comfortable. We had a balcony. There is a handy lift. The sleep quality in this hostel I found excellent.

Hostal Cervantes hit all three of my "trinity" of travel; great location, excellent price, comfortable and clean room. My room was just off the lobby with an ensuite bathroom. I did have to keep the window closed at night due to the noise level but it usually subsided by the time I was ready to sleep. The staff is very...

Very good conditions, low price, excellent location, very friendly and professional service. Near to Prado museum. Nice neighborhood around (especially bar with sea food). I would definitely recommend that place.

I stayed here twice. My only complaint is that each time I resreved and individual room with private bathroom I got the same room that did not have a bathroom. I had to use the one down the hall reserved for that room or maybe more than one room that did not have a bathroom. I felt kind of cheated...

I went here with my friend and having never stayed in a hostel before I didn't know what quite to expect as I'm used to at least a 4* hotel and facilities. This is a cute little hostal, very clean and well located. We got advised by the metro staff at the airport to use the Banco Espana stop, we used...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hostal Cervantes for 3 nights (August 2014). We were very satisfied with the place. Room and bathroom were medium sized and modest; everything was very clean; The staff was very friendly and flexible with payments (you did not get the pressure of paying everything at arrival - which is typical for many places on...

So. Here is the thing. What do you want from your stay? My husband and I were there around time of Holy Week this year and we were going to be in Madrid for a few days. I had been to Madrid before. Neither one of us is a "stay at the hotel and lounge" kind of person. We both...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
