In Madrid there are many, many hostels and Le Sardinero is -situated in the center- an authentic one. It is situated on the third floor (with elevator) and the rooms are basic w/ bath & toilet. Our two person room had a built-in copboard for our clothes, some drawers, and a bath/ shower with toilet. The bed was king-size. Towels...

Very calm & clean, friendly owner, excellent location, old fashioned. Many bars and small shops around. Off the main pedestrian areas but still everything in walking distance. You wouldn't hear any street noise. More than clean. Optimal price - service relation.

I had a horrible experience at Hostal Sardinero - the room assigned to my group was not what we booked (2 beds instead of 3) and the proprietor was incredibly rude. When we showed him the booking and requested the proper accommodations the proprietor cancelled our reservation and asked us to leave, saying "it wasn't his problem." This occurred at...

The absolutly advantage of this hotel is the place - it is situated in the heart of Madrid - so it is very close to all sightseeings. The owener of the hotel, who is the receptionist in one person, is very kind and helpful. Room was clean. I think it is one of the best choice if you don´t want...

Staff is great. Nice place with convenient location. Easy to walk to major plazas, museums and Retiro Park, cafés and restaurants nearby. Jimmy at front desk is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. City tour bus stops about two blocks away. Easy walk to Metro and train station.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
