We stayed for two nights on a weekend break. It’s ideally located on a quiet square away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. All the staff were outstanding and made us feel welcome. All the attractions are within easy walking distance and no need for taxis or public transport.
This is a brilliant hotel, family, dog and electric car friendly! Perfect position in Madrid close to fab bars, restaurants and sight seeing spots. Our room was fab, and the team have a habit of finding ways to exceed your expectations! The real highlight of this place are the team that work there. Simply the best 5 star service from reception and concierge team to the house keeping team. Amazing value. We will be back next time in Madrid. Thanks everyone for a brilliant experience.
We stayed a week and found the hotel to be excellent in all respects. Room was comfortable and quiet. Front desk staff were outstanding in every way; nothing was too much trouble and they were most helpful with gallery and restaurant bookings. The location is ideal and near streets full of tapas bars and small shops.
Everything about the hotel is historic and artsy. Vintage style lobbies, lifts and rooms. The hotel is right in the middle Gran Via, the centre of Madrid and a tourist hotspot. We got a room overlooking the gran via, and with most of the local spots walkable from there. The rooms are large and comfortable, there is a luxurious feel to every detail. The service desk is very responsive 24 hours, the staff is very courteous and friendly. We even got a complementary wine as a honeymoon gift. Would highly recommend staying here.
This is a superb hotel - the service is impeccable. We had a room at the top with a roofterrace and the view was stunning - you could actually look down on a statue of Cervantes! It is close to everything - Prado, Thyssen, the grand boulevards and also the small cosy streets
We stayed four nights here in total. The service is outstanding. All the staff, including at breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, cleaning staff etc, remembered our preferences from the first day. And the service was personalized - they recognised us and knew our room number without us having to say it. For example, on one occasion, we asked to try 3 different pillows from the pillow menu, which we received. The next day, the reception asked us if we had found the pillows to be comfortable, and if we wanted to try a different one that evening. I also had the opportunity to speak to the Manager, and he was really friendly and professional. One of our group was feeling unwell and stayed in bed for 2 days. Each day, several members of staff asked how she was feeling, and if there's anything she needed. They also offered to prepare special dishes for her, as she didn't feel well enough to eat anything on the normal menu. The amenities are great. You receive bathrobes, slippers, and a cloth bag to keep them in. Toiletries are from The White Company, and there's a free non-alcoholic mini-bar. Hotel is central, near the Prado. All in all, I'd say the general service and experience was superior to almost every brand I've stayed in, more or less at the same level as Airelles and Aman hotels, and onboard Silversea cruises, so a big congratulations to the staff! And best of all, there are free sweets and candies in the lobby :)…
We very much enjoyed our post-Christmas and New Year's stay in Madrid thanks to Hotel Villa Real! Madrid at this time is very festive with the holiday season. We were able to enjoy everything from this hotel's central location in Madrid. We were minutes away from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado, and more. Atocha train station was walkable or a quick taxi. The hotel was immaculately clean, with friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The room was stocked with everything a traveler might need, and we received a bottle of wine and chocolates upon arrival. They even provided the 12 grapes on New Year's with an explanation of the tradition. We stayed on floor 3 with a view out to the plaza and a small balcony. The street noise was limited at night, and during the day, we could hear skateboarders outside, as well as the delightful holiday bells ringing on the insurance building nearby. None of this bothered us at all, but just wanted to give fellow travelers a heads up. Our room was wonderfully outfitted with plenty of towels, robes, slippers, tissues, and more. All the basics plus some. Two spacious closets afforded us lots of room. Room was refreshed upon request, and there was a nightly turn-down. Temperature was good and controllable. We were impressed with even the smallest touches, such as the reusable shopping bag provided (there is a tax for plastic shopping bags) and fragrance satchels in both closets, which helped us refresh our clothing after long travels. We didn't purchase included breakfast, and ate at the hotel one morning during our five night stay. Cafes are plentiful in this part of town, including one just steps away. We found the hotel breakfast to be efficient, but very expensive for a cold buffet (hot breakfast was available a la carte). We were definitely paying for convenience that morning, as we did not wish to leave the hotel. Pool available at sister hotel just around the corner. Of course, it was too cold for this during our stay, but we still enjoyed the view from the rooftop terrace. We would definitely recommend your stay there!…
We are a Turkish and American blended family with two boys ages 7 and 11. We have traveled extensively and lived throughout US, Europe, and the Middle East. We spent 3 nights at Hotel Villa Real in a split level duplex room. Having two bathrooms, two showers, a bath tub, three sinks, two televisions, and separate sleeping areas was fantastic! My children were comfortable on the pull out sofa because they are little; an adult or older teenager would probably not be very comfortable. There was enough space for the 4 of us to comfortably maneuver around our suitcases. My only complaint is that the walls were paper thin. Even in the upstairs bedroom, you hear people in the hall below, people talking in the adjacent rooms, people in their bathrooms and closets, you’ll even know when you’re neighbors have the television on. Ours kept theirs on until 3 am one night. Then they were up at 7. It was awful. The gym is fine is you are not trying to lift heavy weights. The heaviest dumbbells are 8 kilos. If you travel with television dongles, Google TV will not work because you will not be able to connect to the internet. Apple TV will work. The location is ideal if you like to be near attractions but not in the thick of the crowded areas. Approximately 5 minute walking distance to the train station, art museum, and gardens. No more than 15 minute walk to Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, and Calle Gran Via. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and helpful. If not for the thin walls I think our stay wound have been perfect. If we were to stay here again, I expect a little white noise would solve our problem.…
I have been coming here for years whenever I stay in Madrid. The location, price and service are all excellent. I have stayed in suites and regular rooms depending on my visit and have never been disappointed. The restaurant and buffet breakfast are both very good and the staff and folks at the reception desk extremely professional.
From the moment we walked into Hotel Villa Real we felt we were at home. Everyone at the front desk was helpful and professional the whole time. The lobby vibe was relaxing and welcoming. Our room was immaculate and had an amazing view. The location is perfect. I would definitely come back and stay here next time we are in Madrid.
