The service staff were very nice. Very helpful when asking for directions or recommendations for places to eat. There are 9 floors. We stayed on the 6th floor, and we are a family of 4.. The room was dusty, I think because the curtains haven't been cleaned in a while. I had to ask the maid to mop and vacuum...

We had a wonderfull stay at this hotel and the big plus is its location. Short walking distance from the Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Sol, the Palace and Mercado San Miguel. Rooms simple but comfartable, bathrooms clean and modern. Free wi-fi and breakfast for a sensible price. Good place to stay in Madrid.

Hotel Opera had a great deal going, stay 3 nights and 4th is free, breakfast included! Positive comments on TripAdviser sealed the deal. Rooms are clean, air-conditioned, hot/cold water, with television and WI-FI. Traveling as a family of 4, they also accommodated our request to have rooms close to each other. It gets better. The staff genuinely treated us as...

I stayed at this hotel in late June and early July 2013 for 7 nights. I had a single room on the third floor which overlooked the street. I must say that the noise from the street at night was bothersome but not a deal breaker. The room was small, typical of European standards. The bathroom was larger than I...

The hotel was overall above average. Location was good. Close to Plaza Mayor. Liked the staff. They were helpful. One spoke English as our Spanish was fairly poor. Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
