As soon as I purchased our airline tickets to Madrid last April, I made reservations through our Whatahotel travel agent at one of my bucket list hotels: The Ritz. I was a little wary about the recent changeover from Belmond to Mandarin Oriental management, and some accounts of the hotel needing renovations, but any concerns melted away the moment we...

Every stay at the Hotel Ritz, Madrid is excellent. With its dedicated, helpful staff and amazing location, you can't have a bad vacation when staying here. The rooms are dated, but that should be fixed soon enough. Even if the rooms were never updated, I'd stay here just for the staff. They're fantastic!

The Ritz Madrid was an expectacular Christmas gift and they deliver with an exclusive and classic hotel and excellent customer service. Rooms offers commodities not seen any more even in 5 stars hotels like linen bed sheets and towels, large rooms and bathrooms, a greeting note and cake at check in and very central and beautiful location. Great & delicious...

After 8 days in Madrid I am so thankful that I chose The Westin Palace instead of the Ritz. DO NOT MISTAKE THIS FOR A RITZ CARLTON! At first my decision was due to the fact that the Ritz only had one floors of rooms with climate control and the lady on the phone could not confirm if I would...

You can't beat the Ritz for service and comfort! We enjoyed the Goya Restaurant for a special celebration and weren't disappointed. The Goya menu and lobby tapas menu disappointed us a bit because we were looking forward to hamon, foie gras and truffles but obviously we are a bit old fashioned now.

To the good. Excellent location, the usual friendly enough welcome, relatively quick check in, comfortable and warm hotel. Excellent surroundings within communal areas, superb pianists and quality service from bar/restaurant staff. The bad...for what it is, it is overpriced and clearly base their prices on reputation and knowing many guests care not about being ripped off. It wasn't so much...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
