I was in Madrid on holiday and stayed at the MERCURE MADRID PLAZA DE ESPANA (10/04/2017- 20/04/2017). It looked to be well situated – not being far from a Metro station with access for the disabled - which is important for me as I am partially disabled. According to the MERCURE MADRID PLAZA DE ESPANA website, the 4* hotel had...

Stayed for 4 nights in our first visit to Madrid. Hotel is being renovated but we were given a super room. Staff were all very friendly and keen to help. Breakfast was mote than ample with lots of variety. The hotel is conveniently placed to walk to many of the major sites and within 10 minutes walk of the Royal...

At the time of staying the hotel was being refurbished, but this did not affect our stay. Our room was modern, clean and spacious. The breakfast was plentiful - as much as you could eat buffet with delicious fresh bread, croissant and fruit, as well as the usual cheese and meats. Also v. Good coffee. All staff were very friendly...

Very good location, minutes from Plaza de Espana, Palacio Real, Gran Via st. and much more.. The staff was very kind and helpful. Thus the hotel is during renovation, we could hardly feel it. We were upgraded to a privilege room, the room was spacious, new, modern with Espresso machine and more unusual facilities. Thank you so much!

Very friendly and helpful staff try to ensure that the current building work does not spoil your stay. I was given one of the re-furbished rooms away from the renovations so noise was no problem, I think the hotel will look great when work is complete. The room was very comfortable and spacious for a city centre hotel with good...

I'm going to Madrid quite often for business. Despite its good location I would not recommend to go to this hotel. My room was very old. There was no bar and no gym at the hotel. This hotel needs a good refurbishment then will probably be ok.

Currently undergoing massive refurbishment, although this did not affect our stay, just hope they are not going to rip out all of the old character of the building. Close to metro stations, restaurants and bars. We had what I assume was a refurbished room which was clean and modern, but the shower over the bath would not point the right...

The hotel is undergoing renovation but we were given a brand new room on top floor. Everything was new, bed and bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Staying in Arguelles

Neighbourhood Profile
Arguelles
Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
