Well located hotel, very close to the Metro- Nunez Balboa, and easy access to and from the airport. The shops and restaurants in the surrounding Salamenca area were wonderful. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist called Evie (hope I have that correct), she was so helpful, and in particular gave us a great recommendation for lunch nearby at Farmacia-...

The hotel rate is affordable for similar hotels in the same area. The staff is efficient, rooms are clean and location very central to the shopping district.

Aug '11 @ 45 EUR the night. Pluses: Room was reasonably big, neat and well-kept. Common areas OK yet a bit more tired. Check-in was quick and efficient. Minuses: Room facing courtyard... VERY dark even in summer time! NO free wifi/WLAN... super expensive! Standard buffet breakfast does not begin until 8.00 AM in summer. Conclusion: Very good for that price...

I am a fan of NH hotels. They are always nice and you can rest assured you will get a nice room and a good meal. The problem is that NH has expanded so much in Madrid that they will turn anything into one of their properties. This is the case here. The building is not new and that you...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
