A very central location only 10 minutes from Royal Palace and Cathedral. Grand Via 5 minutes away. All you need in a city break hotel - clean, good hot shower and helpful staff. Bathroom was a real plus due to the excellent lighting. Most hotels have dreadful lighting in bathrooms. Recommended.

Great location, an easy walk to metro at Plaza Espana, Gran Via, Royal Palace and Cathedral. Rooms are spacious and bed comfortable. Large bathroom. Everywhere is clean and well presented. Decent breakfast, Nespresso coffee machine. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Feels old and decaying. It was nice at some point in time, but it's in dire need of tlc and updating. The staff at the reception desk is kind. The location is central and close to many tourist attractions.

This is a gem of a hotel. The rooms are spacious with everything you need. Great shower massive bathroom, we had a walk-in wardrobe. Pity there is no tea coffee making facilities that's the only thing that lets it down

This hotel is very central for the main attractions within Madrid, Nice big rooms and very clean. If you go to the hotel via SavNav don't panic the hotel is in a back street, currently opposite a building project. Ask for a quiet room if you can, not that it was noisy when we stayed. Breakfast is nice and great... More

There is nothing fancy about this place, the rooms are basic, the breakfast is the same every day, the amenities limited. But the people are friendly, it is scrupulously clean, the rooms are quiet, and the wireless fast. The location, close to Plaza Espana and the Royal Palace, is not central but close to the center by foot or by... More

The rooms and hallways are in need of a little renovation, but everything is clean and in good state. Staff is friendly and the breakfast was well supplied. The location is perfect as the metro is a hop skip away. It is perfect for families looking for a nice place to crash after a long day of sightseeing.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
