At the end of our guided Portugal/Spain group tour, we stayed at this hotel with Gate 1 tours. This is a nice clean, modern hotel. We had no problems and the breakfast was good. For someone staying for business, the location is fine, but for us, personally, as tourists, we prefer to be closer walking distance to the city center and near the more tourist shopping and attractions areas. Otherwise, the hotel was fine.

This is an excellent choice to stay in Madrid. It was clean, modern, and very quiet. Service was excellent. The Breakfast Buffet was probably one of the best we experienced in Spain over a 21-day tour that took us to most of the major cities in Spain. The hotel is definitely not close (as far as walking) to the main tourist attractions, but it is well located and public transportation is close by. Maybe a 20-min very nice walk to "El Retiro". I you have a car, the Galgos Serrano Public Car Park is just underneath the hotel. Parking is safe and the parking spots are comfy for normal-size cars. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future.

I used the brand melia before and I was very happy, I decided to go to Madrid with the same brand I was very disappointed once I entered the room there was a gutter smell thinking that it will go but was there the haul day, there was no view at all, there was no bottle water to drink which I found very very strange because any hotel I have been there was water to drink.
I asked for tooth paste and toothbrush waiting 30 min to get it I had to call them twice.
Staff are friendly.
Loved the hot chocolat for breakfast.
The location is amazing.

Will I Come back again the answer is NO

My 30 days stay in a Melia property in Madrid had started the worst way, what is even more discouraging is that I have 29 days ahead.
I booked the hotel 2 weeks ago, originally Melia Princesa, a 5 star hotel. Today I got to the airport and I had already booked my transfer to the hotel. Once arrived to Melia princesa we found out that the hotel was completely closed, under renovation. No phone number, no indications, anything. I started calling the Melia call center which basically is a virtual operator, after several minutes at the phone answering nonsense questions I got transferred to a human being, which happened to be as useless as the virtual operator given the fact that this person couldn’t even locate my reservation nor give me any direction of what to do. Luckily my driver started asking other drivers of the same transportation company to see if they knew about the Melia Princesa situation. One told him Melia was transferring all the reservations from Princesa to Serrano so we headed to Serrano. Once arrived to Serrano I found out that in fact my reservation was transferred there without giving any information about it. After 1h going around and obviously a extra cost for the driver’s time wasted I arrived to the correct hotel.
But this was the beginning, things were not getting any better. I waited 20min at the lobby till I could do the check in, only 1 person is attending at the front desk. Once checked in I asked for a bigger room as I’ll be 30 days here and got 6 luggage with me, after paying for an upgrade they sent me to a 2nd floor room, super noisy.
Due to Covid protocol bar is open till 9pm, after that hour room service is the only way to get a bottle of water (Covid protocol also eliminated mini bar). If you are lucky to contact room service you’ll get your water, actually I’ve been calling for 15’ with no answer. I insisted with front desk but no answer either.
I get the Covid protocol but the alternatives the hotel gives you to sort the protocol aren’t working. Everything happened during the first day of my stay, I can imagine what awaits me for the following 29 days (already payed for the full stay). Keep you posted.

Please if you haven’t booked your hotel yet, get away from Melia Madrid properties.

I booked a room at the level premium. The TV was full of dust, the room was not clean. I requested in advanced a room far from the elevator and the one I have is in front of the elevator. The lady in the level floor tried to contact the manager nor answer. She said that the manager is not working until tomorrow. It seemed that there is not manager in the hotel to assit the Melia member in this situation. I have allergies and I requested a room free of feather and without dust. It is 8:26 pm I decided to go to the lounge for the level members and there is not diversity of cocktails that my husband has to paid a drink. We are in Madrid where you can find cheeses and jamón serrano tablas and there is not offers in the level lounge.
It is very unhappy and unsatisfied as a customer of Melia for many years and I feel lost and not protective for what I paid.
This is not a vacation this is a nightmare.

Shoutout to the Melia team who made us feel really well looked after, while transiting through Madrid during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially we planned to stay at Melia Barajas for a night, and the Melia team contacted us that they are working on adjusting the property to the new standards. They offered us to transfer our booking and gave us two options. We ended up changing last minute to Melia Serrano and had an excellent stay! All our interactions with the Melia team were so pleasant and helpful — corresponding on the change of the booking and communicating with the Serrano staff at reception and the restaurant. Fan of Melia and would stay at Serrano again!

This hotel has tremendous value for the price. Much cheaper than US luxury hotel chains with better service by far. I was a solo female traveler. Extremely safe quiet Salamanca neighborhood. Cab stand out front & all cab drivers know this hotel. Easy walk to metro, major park (Retiro). Mostly business/embassy travelers (US embassy a 5 minute walk) but some family & couples.

Beautiful modern decor with real plants, lovely roof deck with icy plunge pool perfect for relaxing after a hot day. Adjustable icy cold AC, hypoallergenic, no pets & smoke free inside (some smokers on outdoor deck).
I have allergies & need it cold to sleep: great beds, no allergy issues & AC goes to frigid in your room if you like (not a guarantee in many EU hotels).

Breakfast buffet is AMAZING. Huge selection of eggs/bacon/quiche/grilled vegetables plus fruit/bread/cereal and cheeses/meats/nuts as well as fresh churros with Nutella and other sauces (caramel/strawberry/chocolate). The lobby buffet opens at 7.

I booked a Level room; not much more & worth it! Fabulous maid service/turndown with chocolates, private lounge open 7:30 AM to 11 PM with delicious food all day! Local fresh food, coffee/tea, beverages & snacks. In the afternoon salads, small sandwiches, savory quiches etc.

The level of hospitality and amenities was spectacular. I stayed 5 nights total with all fees/tax 1700 USD or $340 per night which I felt was a tremendous value as this was a 5 star experience.

This is an interim review as we have only stayed the 1st night out of our 3 booked. Not impressed with the man behind the bar last night who charged us €5 for a glass of milk so we could have a cup of tea on our rom & had to argue with him to give us some tea bags - he said “they are not free” then begrudgingly gave us 2 more. We did not have any in our room!! He was surly & unhelpful. We went up to our pokey little room feeling very unhappy. I would have sent a direct message to the Guest Relations manager but being Saturday she is not there. There’s no menu in the room on numbers to call for reception. Not a good start!

Very nice hotel in relatively quiet location, but still not too far from city center 2-3 ml. Rooms are not very big, but well equipped and have everything you need including big electric tea pot with good size cups and coffee/tea selection. Breakfast is very nice, great fruit selection in addition to cheese/meat options. Vegan/vegetarian people can have a reasonably good breakfast. Rooftop pool is nice, but small. We enjoyed our stay there.
