Arrived early from airport ( €5 on bus to city centre) easy walk to hotel. Room was ready. Able to freshen up before day of sightseeing then a meal in nearby restaurant . checked out after excellent breakfast, left my luggage safely in hotel, more sightseeing, collected luggage in evening ti return to airport and onward travel. Could not have...

Clean, but not updated bathrooms. Staff helpful but did not have a Madrid Michelein guide or any other restaurant or tour guides. Breakfast good, better than average. Good location near tapas bars, Prado Museum and Thyssen museum. Would rate 3 1/2 stars.

I stayed here with my family for a week and the hotel was in a great location. As well as having the museums close by, the stops for the hop on hop off bus (both routes) are only minutes away. The train station is about a 10 minute walk. We used the airport express bus and got off at Plaza...

Wonderful location, in front of ¨Museo del Prado¨, the room was very well furnished, very clean. Very good experience, we stayed there 3 nights and moved to see Madrid by foot. The staff was helpful, but we didn´t try the restaurant or pool.

We stayed here for two nights. The room was large enough and it had a nice bathroom. Don’t understand why hotels are going to a half wall of glass as a shower enclosure. Our room was on the ground floor and we had a small patio with a couple of chairs. The weather was cool so we didn’t use it....

I paid for a suite for 3, and the third bed was a very uncomfortable cot. My itinerary also suggested that I would receive a welcome gift and fruit basket, I didnt get either of these things. The hotel is close to many attractions, and I basically walked everywhere no metro or bus needed. It is literally a 2 minute...

I really liked this hotel...it was quiet and had the most comfortable bed I'd slept in on the entire trip. The internet connection was great. It is walking distance to the train station, the Prado, the Botanical Gardens, Puerta del sol etc. I did not purchase the breakfast, but there are plenty of places to have breakfast surrounding the hotel.

Stayed for three nights at this small hotel, right across the street from the Prado, earlier this month (June, 2013). Excellent value for money; good breakfast, clean, comfortable, and surprisingly well appointed. Staff, with one exception, pleasant and helpful at all times. And sent us to good restaurants nearby, as we did not know the city. Everything we wanted to...

An excellent hotel for a no frills stay in Madrid. There is no restaurant and the rooms are fairly small and basic so would not want to spend long periods in them. Although there is a breakfast service it is somewhatt expensive and lacking in character: the coffee is partiuclalrly nasty from a machine: much better to walk up the...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
