IF YOU STAY HERE YOU WILL BE HARASSED AND HAVE SECURITY AND POLICE CALLED ON YOU IF YOU DONT CHECK OUT PERSONALLY AT THE DESK!! At first I liked the ambiance of the hotel. However this hotels performance is awful. I was harassed and embarrassed outside by your security guard and then the police was called on me just because I didn’t check out at the desk. I expressed I had a flight to catch in which my taxi was already waiting. I dropped my room key in the bowl just as I seen other guest do as well without needing to speak directly. They have charged my card at check in but still required so much action to check out. After the security and officers spoke to the hotel representative that my check out was ok.. they didn’t even bother to apologize. The officer holding me didn’t even speak English but was very nasty to me as I was criminal Or escaped without paying. This hotel isn’t for tourist, they will not treat you equally.…
The strength of the hotel is its staff: friendly and competent. Also very central location is a bonus. And that's it. I spent one night there (business trip) and my room (single) was not only very small but with the window overlooking the internal well with really noisy vents. No option to get a rest then. Pity. I was also missing the electric sockets to charge the phones/other devices nearby my bed - unfortunately - they are not there. So summing up: the pluses are: very friendly staff and the location, but the hotel is not really much up to 4 stars standard. Breakfast rather average,
We’re not travel snobs, but we have traveled a lot. We spent 5 nights at Madrid’s historic Hotel Emperador and had no concerns. Our Jr. Suite, overlooking Gran Via, was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Photos were “spot on”! Breakfast buffet was served in a very large room and consisted of brewed coffee, juices, tea & cocoa, cereals, yogurt, breads & pastries, ham & cheese assortment, scrambled eggs, bacon, salad greens, condiments, & more. Staff kept the tables cleared and buffet filled. Reception and Housekeeping polite & efficient. The view from the rooftop was awesome! Great Hotel, Highly Recommended
The room was very very small with no view at all. We were disappointed. From the window, we could se only dirty wall right ahead, nothing else. Also the bathroom was small but it was ok anyway. In the room there was no space for two suitcases. It was difficult for old people to use it on the floor.
Most rooms come with no outside spaces, some have a nice balcony and a very few have a huge private terrace with sun loungers, a table and 2 armchairs like the one we booked on the 9th floor. Views towards the Gran Via were fantastic and constantly changing. The room was however very disappointing. It was dated (but clean), not comfortable and the bed was very small (140) for a double bed. Breakfast did the job but nothing special really. The rooftop hosts a nice pool and space to chill out, relax or simply sit down comfortably to enjoy the drinks and the views. It is an old fashioned property, with its outdated own style but it has a pleasant touch overall and attentive staff. For sure, access to a private terrace made the extra cost really worth it.
