Perfect location, beautiful setting and great service! Couldn’t expect less from an Intercontinental hotel and this one does not disappoint. Super close to all the Madrid attractions, we chose to take taxis back and forth which we found to be super affordable (didn’t try Uber on this trip). The rooms are on the smaller side, consistent with all European hotels that are not new builds. There is a breakfast buffet option in the morning that has everything you can imagine to start your day and great drinks if you want to relax in the evening. Highly recommend it!
Our visit to Madrid was extra special because of all the staff at this hotel were wonderful. The first room ended up with no heat but Imaculeda (sp) at the front desk upgraded us to a suite. The conceirge, Alfredo suggested a wonderful walking route to the historic sites and very important gluten free restaurant. He was top-notch, helpful and friendly! The morning maitre d got us gluten free museli and all the wait staff were lovely. Our last night we went to the bar for a bite and a glass of wine and Abilio pulled together a lovely gluten free tapas for us. The hotel itself is quite grand and very clean. We highly recommend this as a base while in Madrid.
We found the service to be excellent, all the staff were very friendly. All very clean Breakfast was great ,all the usual hot and cold selection , even had baked beans. On the first day the waiter didn't mention that you could have eggs cooked to order,But you can have fried egg, poached, omelete , eggs benedict , if you ask. Good location on one of the main streets in Madrid. We like walking , so we walked to the Prado museum , Sol, Goya, Retiro Park, But there is an underground close by if you want. We would book again.
I have gone tor brunch in several occasions with my daughter and her husband and I ma never disappointed. For our brunch today they added a bartending experience where the bartender taught us how to make a cosmopolitan. It was great and as always the staff was great!
We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious and the bed was huge and great for our backs. We had breakfast every day and it was fantastic. The food and selection was great, great coffee and orange juice! The staff are all amazing and friendly, they totally made our stay great.
The hotel is situated at an easy to reach destination in Madrid where fascinating building attracts your attention before entrance. The reception is small but efficient and warm due to the approach of the staff. The check in and out speed is satisfactory. The lobby is calling you to have a seat and to take breath before you go to your room. The room is big, clean and comfortable for a good sleep. The free Wi-Fi increases your satisfaction. The amenities are enough and if you need more, you can call the reception. The restaurant serves for all needs. I suggest for all occasions.
So glad to be back in one of my top favorite city and exceptional hotel. I actually ws here last winter, in spite of Covid. Hardly any guests. So good to see it back open. The staff here, all of them, are some of the best I have experienced. They remember you by name and are always there if you need asidtance with anything. As a Royal Embassador we were upgraded to the 7th floor. Wonderful view, and we always find time on the balcony for lunch. I look forward to returning in 2023 more often. I love the city and always finding new historic sites, art exhibits, and restaurants. The club lounge here at the hotel is great.
I am writing this at 3am as it’s the last drop for me having a hard time sleeping here, the bed is hard and it’s not for 2 people, it’s a bit bigger than a twin bed. Started with us having to change rooms upon arrival from a long flight because the bath tub didn’t work properly. It wasn’t an easy process since they tried to convince us to “just take showers instead”. Er… no. We are tired and sick and we paid for a room with a working tub. Nobody offered to carry our bags from the start and they tried their best not change our room but we stood our ground. In the new room the bath tub also doesn’t work properly but whatever we were able to make it work manually in order to have a bath full of water without leaking. The bathroom has no towel warmer on the bathroom, the bath is super slippery and dangerous I almost slipped twice even tho I was using the safety mat provided by the hotel which poorly fits the tub. Ours is a very outdated room and it’s honestly the WORST bed I’ve ever tried to sleep in my life, my husband and I are not big people! We are tall but not wide, we can’t barely fit in the bed and it’s hard like a table!! Tho the service was great, the food at the bar was not good, nothing we ordered tested fresh, it just doesn’t feel like a 5 star hotel at all. I stayed at international in Porto march of this year and the experience was completely different. I’m so disappointed and feel like I would have better sleep and more comfortable stay at a Hilton or even a Marriot courtyard but now it’s too late and we have to suck it up because we only have a little over a couple more days here in Europe. I wanted to book another hotel I stayed in Madrid before a long time ago but thought it would be more luxurious to stay at an intercontinental, big mistake! My advice: don’t stay here!…
Excellent Hotel and excellent staff. Fatimah from the call center is a great woman. She helped me a lot while I was very sick setting in the room for two nights. I do recommend this hotel for all of my friends. Thanks for your quality services that you are providing.
We had an opportunity to stay at the Interconnential during our recent Viking cruise from Spain. We have stayed at other Interconnential hotels during other Viking cruises, so we are guessing that there is a relationship between the two. There were very helpful Viking reps on site at the hotel, which was very helpful. The hotel is very nice - clean, good service with a nice bar. We only found the one central restaurant, so limited dining options. But the hotel had piano and violin music in the evening - a nice touch. We stayed in a lower room, which was a bit quirky. Lots of little rooms. We're guessing the lower floors are all like this, with more modern rooms as you go to the upper floors. A very nice area of Madrid - many small restaurants and shops nearby. A good choice in Madrid.…
