The InterContinental Madrid, an IHG Hotel, garners high marks for its amenities, with guests frequently commending the luxurious rooms and attentive service. While travelers enjoy the property's classic appeal and cleanliness, some feel the rooms could benefit from modernization. The staff's professionalism and friendly demeanor often receive accolades, yet there are remarks about the need for facility updates to enhance value. Situated in a spot that balances tranquility with easy access to Madrid's sights, the hotel's atmosphere carries an old-world charm that is both admired and seen by some as slightly antiquated.

The room was elegantly European and very comfortable. There was a choice of pillows which was great as quite often the wrong pillow stops you from sleeping. The breakfast buffet had a wide choice of tasty food. The location is in a very up market area and is quiet at night. There is a handy metro station nearby. The staff were extremely helpful and often asking if they could be of assistance. Internet is good.

I'm Aspire elite and Ambassador with IHG (may be changing with changes in their program). We used points to book this stay. I did notice a fluctuation in points over the time we were planning this trip, so it pays to revisit.

We highly recommend this hotel!

From the moment we stepped out of our car from the airport we were welcomed with such warmth- The doorman, reception, and the concierge, the restaurant staff, the housekeeping staff. Everyone seemed anxious to make our stay a memorable experience and eager to help.

Juan Manuel Lopez seemed to always be there helping us, even pushing the elevator button for us when he saw us coming in. Tremendously helpful and gracious. He gave us excellent help on planning some excursions.

We stayed here on points and chose to upgrade to have club room access. 75 Euros per night seems a bargain. This might be lower than usual becuase it was not the busy season. Club room access also included a great buffet breakfast in the restaurant (loved the pastries) as well as afternoon snacks and evening appetizers. Wonderful atmosphere and quiet place to relax after a day of sightseeing. We'd highly recommend this.

Javier Capilla and his staff took excellent care of us at breakfast. If you don't see something you want at the buffet, ask and they might be able to accomodate.

We had asked for a room with a balcony and were disappointed to find the balcony was overlooking the inner courtyard. My fault, I didn't specify clearly. It's an interesting view, but we prefer to have an outward looking view of the city we're staying in. They put us in room 328 and this was an excellent room with a window view of the city and a view of the people walking by. We also took a look at the rooms with patios on the upper floors but chose to stay in room 328.

I believe 328 was an upgrade but I'm unclear if it was a Junior suite or a premium room. It was great.

Basics: The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet (no problem with street noise) and everything worked.

The lobby and interior of the hotel is gorgeous. The photos I saw were one of the reasons I booked this property and in person it did not dissapoint. The hallways and rooms also were in excellent shape and same theme.

There wasn't a lot to see and do in the immediate neighborhood. We took a walk around for the local flavor. Most of the places we wanted to visit were a short cab ride away and cost was pretty nominal.

I often travel to Madrid on business and always make sure to stay at the InterContintal. The location cannot be beat; not far from the Plaza Real, the Prado, walking distance to the charming Museo Sorolla. The staff is appreciative, attentive without being intrusive and always call me by name. The room offers a large bathroom with two sinks, a bathtub and separate shower; the living area is spacious with crispy linens on the bed.

Perfect location, beautiful setting and great service! Couldn’t expect less from an Intercontinental hotel and this one does not disappoint. Super close to all the Madrid attractions, we chose to take taxis back and forth which we found to be super affordable (didn’t try Uber on this trip).
The rooms are on the smaller side, consistent with all European hotels that are not new builds. There is a breakfast buffet option in the morning that has everything you can imagine to start your day and great drinks if you want to relax in the evening. Highly recommend it!

We stayed here for 3 nights on our first trip to Spain since Covid. We have stayed in Madrid several times but this is now our favourite hotel. The hotel is in a nice quiet business / residential area slightly away from the main city centre.

Check in was friendly and charming and we were upgraded to a very nice room. The room was spacious and comfortable with a small separate seating area. The bathroom was proper old style marble with full bath, separate toilet and walk in shower. There was an extensive range of good quality toiletries ( after recent experiences in more modern hotels with inadequate soundproofing and lack of doors in toilets - this bathroom was just perfect ).

We had access to the Club Lounge which was very comfortable. The breakfast offering was very good ( best Spanish omelette ever ! ) and the service throughout the day was friendly and efficient. There was a nice selection of wine and drinks in the evening, with hot and cold canapés. The main bar was also very nice.

Our only regret was that we didn’t have time to try the Sunday Brunch as we had to get to the airport.

The area around the hotel was pleasant with lots of cafes, small bars and restaurants . The Museo Sorolla was just around the corner and is worth a visit. It was an easy 30 minute walk to the Gran Via, and in a different direction to Retiro Park. There was an upmarket shopping area about 10 minutes walk.

Overall our experience was faultless, with excellent service from all staff.

An amazing experience in the heart of Madrid with taxi, train, bus and walking options galore! The guest room and bath were roomy by European standards. The buffet breakfast offered everything from meats, cheeses, pastries, fruits, vegetables, as well as a variety of beverage selections. Our 4 day stay gave us the opportunity to "see" Madrid and the surrounding cities with the valuable recommendations of our Concierge, Alfredo Garcia. Alfredo took the time to understand what our interests were before suggesting possible tours and sights to see. Alfredo arranged 4 wonderful tours and trips for us and each day he asked us to check in upon returning. Alfredo's commitment to his customers is truly exemplified in the personal service we recieved. The Intercontinental Madrid consistently lives up to the Intercontinental Hotel's reputation as a quality, customer service-oriented Hotel.

For a hotel that boasts of 70 years of heritage, the InterContinental Madrid definitely does a good job of maintaining its rooms to a standard where nothing comes across as dated. As an InterContinental Ambassador & IHG Platinum, I used a Confirmable Suite Upgrade which cleared through a week or two in advance of the stay. Unlike many other suites with a common bedroom + living area, the suite we had a proper door separating the two, with a work desk in the living room; there was also a separate hallway outside the living room with a wardrobe to put stuff in and to take shoes off. The separation of the living and bedroom area was very useful for taking a couple of work calls without disturbing my partner. Bathroom area was spacious. I adored the gift of local olive oil and balsamic vinegar as a souvenir. The concierge team was excellent at helping me figure out a couple of shops in Madrid to hire suit rentals last minute when the one I’d brought along got stained. Overall a thoughtful and attentive team that was very responsive to our needs.

I stayed for 2 nights - paid £420/night excluding breakfast which I had to pay for separately. As you can imagine, that’s a lot of money.

I couldn’t see any value for the money paid. The room was relatively small, although it had got everything I needed,

The view of the room was terrible. The hotel itself is quite old and needs serious renovation. The location is decent. The breakfast was 6/10. I ordered a bottle of water to the room and was charged €9. People were generally nice.

Bottom line, I would not try it again.

Thanks for having me!

A great hotel with a uniquely professional service!.

We celebrated Women's Day last week at the Intercontinental Hotel Madrid and it was an absolutely fabulous event. The staff is very professional, helpful and prompt. Everything was well prepared on time with a great deal of adequacy. The events team led by Gema Ferrero was very efficient in all ways, starting from the planning phase to the follow up and execution, and always with a smile and a friendly attitude.
The event came out so elegant, the brunch menu was heavenly rich and healthy with sufficient amounts of food and drinks.
I am so happy, and extremely satisfied with the service, quality and experience. In addition to its brilliant location, on the most important avenues in Madrid, the hotel is exquisitely chic with a touch of cosiness that you feel once you enter from the doors.
I would definitely recommend it for stays, events or even just for a meal at their amazing restaurant.
Thank you Intercontinental Hotel Madrid Team.

We found the service to be excellent, all the staff were very friendly.
All very clean
Breakfast was great ,all the usual hot and cold selection , even had baked beans.

On the first day the waiter didn't mention that you could have eggs cooked to order,But you can have fried egg, poached, omelete , eggs benedict , if you ask.

Good location on one of the main streets in Madrid.

We like walking , so we walked to the Prado museum , Sol, Goya, Retiro Park, But there is an underground close by if you want.

We would book again.
