Stayed 3 nights and had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Situated in an excellent location to get to all the central places of interest and walking tours. Staff were very helpful and kind. Internet was pretty good too and free! Didn't have breakfast at the hotel but there are any number of great little places within stones throw for... More

Perfect location which is walking distance to Plaza Mayor and many good shops and restaurants. We asked for a quiet room which was away from the lift and that's exactly what we got. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will stay again.

We have been staying at Hotel Liabeny for years. Just spent 6 wonderful days there. Location cannot be beat. Hotel is beautifully appointed and well kept and clean. From Marcos in reception to Pedro, the world's best concierge! to Fernando and all others treat you like royalty. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel!

We were very pleased with the location of this hotel. The proximity to Puerta Del Sol and the city center made this a good jumping off spot to explore Madrid on our first visit. Easy walks to the Plaza Mayor, the Palace and, in the other direction, the Prado. The convenience of the Metro being a three minute walk from... More

The hotel has an old fashioned elegance, but is very well run. The room was very clean, and room service good. Only negative points was that the bath plug did not fit properly so unable to have a bath and there was some mould in the bath seals. The hotel heating was off, but the housekeeper brought up a portable... More

I stayed only one night at this hotel that is located a few meters from "Puerta del Sol" in Madrid. All the staff members are very professional and attentive. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have had in European hotels. I will be back at Liabeny Hotel without habitation.

200 yards from Puerta del Sol, it's about as good a location as possible. Drinks not TOO pricey. Room was lovely, tidy, classy and cool with the air-con. No iron/ironing board available, so had to use very pricey laundry service. That apart, it was a great stay.

Just in the middle of busy Gran Via and bustling Puerta de Sol, Hotel Liabeny is not only conveniently located in walking distance of public transport, shopping as well as some main attractions. But it is also quietly away from busy Madrid city life. Comfortable clean rooms, two different places to eat, a bar-cafe like place as well as a... More

Booked this hotel based on the web evaluation and I think I really made a right choice. Location is superb and it was safe even for woman traveling alone. Puerta del Sol was very busy till midnight but the bustle didin't reach my room and was able to take a peaceful rest. I will definitely stay here again on... More

The hotel has an excellent location and is close to the shopping streets, metro station and within walking distance from the museums, palace and park. The personnel was very friendly and helpful and we received a late check out. The breakfast was good and the room very comfortable.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
