As stated by other reviewers, Hotel Liabeny is a prime central location from which to explore Madrid. Its proximity to the Sol metro station on Puerta del Sol - just a 3-minute walk - was a major plus, as some other hotels I considered involve...More
I stayed by myself for two nights--a full day in Madrid to visit the art museums between travel to Spain and work in Zaragoza. The location is quite good, between the Plaza del Sol and the Gran Via. It was a pleasant 10-12 minute walk...More
This was the third time we stayed at the Liabeny. From the moment you arrive you are greeted like a special guest. The porter takes your luggage, the receptionist facilitates your room and the concierge answers all your questions and makes any tour or transportation...More

Very central hotel, you can pretty much walk anywhere in the centre of Madrid, The rooms aren't massive and the bathrooms are a little dated, but I would still recommend this hotel a value for money and just about the perfect location.

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

If you're more than 1 people and/or have heavy baggage take a taxi. Flat rate 30 euro from/to the airport to any point in Madrid. Plus when I went there (Feb 2017) there was construction in the metro and the line from the airport was not working so we had to take a bus and then transfer to metro.
