We visited the Principe Pio in November 2019, and had one of the rooms that afforded a view of the palace. (Wasn't quite as huge as the hotel pictures seemed to indicate....but still a nice view!) Big lobby, tasty snacks at breakfast....and a wonderful location, just a short walk to the Palace, or the Temple of DeBod, or to the Centro area.
There were gigantic road construction projects at the Calle de Bailen, which made getting to the tourist attractions maze like, but still with great proximity.
Also, the hotel was surrounded in scaffolding and had rather loud construction going on during the day, which made our one nappin opportunity a no go.
The staff were super helpful, including printing a voucher the awful airport transfer company we used required rather belligerently. They were outgoing and helpful.
The hotel does show signs of age, but still had comfort and pleasant appearance.
To sum up, I highly recommend this hotel.

this hotel is awesome! the staff is very friendly and helps you with everything. The interior design is a bit eclectic, but it looks very cool!
our room was overlooking a busy street but the window closes perfectly, no sound of the street at night.
the hotel is close to the center, the royal palace and the plaza de espana is just a walk away.
definitely recommended!

Well situated Hotel to go around on foot and to arrive from the airport, very nice and friendly staff all the days we were there(even if in my mail they replied formally and zero welcoming). The warmth of the people was really amazing.

The interior is unbelievably beautiful. The entrance, the common spaces, the rooms… they are in a very good condition, well maintained and it feels you make a dive in another era.

We had a room on the sixth floor with direct view to the palace, which we enjoyed al lot.

In our second day, the water was doing weird things in the shower and every thirty seconds was becoming cold and then super hot.

Furthermore we came back to rest after lunch and at 15:30 of 16:00 they cleaned the room next to ours and woke us up with the moving of stuff and the vacuum cleaner. It was not dramatic but I never had it in a hotel at this timing.

I would reconsider staying there in my next trip to Madrid.

What a great place. We stayed for 3 nights as a stop-off before travelling to Seville. The hotel is in a great location, close to the Royal Palace and a 20 mins walk to the centre of the city. Nearest metro is only about 5 minute walk away- very handy to take to the areas further away.
The hotel is beautifully furnished with quirky wallpaper and good attention to detail. The room was spacious with a comfy bed. Breakfast in the morning had a good selection of foods on offer with the option for take-out coffee.
We really enjoyed our stay here and cannot recommend a stay here enough. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Location is excellent! Our triple room was larger than expected. We loved the character of the room (cute dressing table, wooden slat design of closet doors) & ample closet space for our needs. Beds were very comfortable (love the pillows!) & ample drapes allowed us to catch up on the sleep we missed during our flight from the US. The sizeable bathroom had great water pressure in the shower. Generously sized, thick towels plus a heated towel rack. Staff was very helpful & accommodating - stored our luggage after check out, tolerated our imperfect Spanish skills with grace & smiles throughout our stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Really attentive and friendly staff. The hotel is in a great location with both Plaza de España and Principe Pio Metro stations within walking distance (would recommend using Plaza de España). Really clean and comfortable rooms.

Barely 3 stars hotel
Minimalist room with shower problems, the water is or too hot, or too cold, seems they don't have a thermostat or proper equipment.
The breakfast is the same day and day. Supermarket pastry, scrambled eggs and 3-4 salami and cheese assortment...We stayed 7 days...

Brilliant location within walking distance of everywhere we'd planned on visiting. Our view was the palace. Immaculately clean, friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast offered everything from cooked breakfast, meats and cheeses, fruits, pastries, churrosetc. We had a feast every morning. We didn't have a single negative thing to say about our stay.

Very friendly service, excellent location and good breakfast. Price was also very comptetitive compared to other hotels in the area! At night I could hear some noise from a/c or some other device from the building, but it did'nt bother my sleep.
