Good location but when we were there 28/29 Nov 2016 the work going on in and around the hotel really spoilt it for me. Banging on the roof/floor above from workmen after midnight is not on. Second day the strong smell of glue was everywhere in the hotel catching in your throat. Horrible! Staff were friendly but I would not... More

This hotel was perfectly situated in the center of downtown Madrid. It was quiet, clean and comfortable. It had a flat screen TV and free wi-fi. It's new redecoration of my room was fun and gave an otherwise old fashioned room a touch of class and interest. The staff were very helpful in providing directions and information and in assisting... More

Turned up early, our bags were put in a safe location whilst we went out and about. Reception got a Map out and high lighted the main points to visit. with abit about history of the hotel. A very quirky hotel. Could not fault the rooms on the 4th floor. Breakfast was ample. Cleanliness was superb. All staff very friendly.... More

We went there for a short city break in Oct and after being spoilt for choice in terms of the amount of accommodation we decided to stay at the Teatro as it looked nice and we liked the theme of the place. As well as the hotel being central and the room we booked had a balcony/outside terrace. when we... More

The hotel has an ideal location in the center of the city, right between the Prado museum and Plaza Mayor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is nothing special but for this price you couldn't possibly expect a whole lot more (and we've never left our breakfast table still hungry).

The hotel is part of the Spanish Casual chain which focuses on "different" decoration, presumably theatre themes. Our floor was "Broadway" so our room was decorated with a "Les Miserables" theme. Our neighbours had a "Cats" room. Other than the rather silly decor, the rooms were more than adequate, with plenty of space, a coffee table, and a couch. Our... More

It was good because it is central and we wanted that. Cleaning is not good, we realised they haven't pass a mop or hoover in 4 days, coffee for breakfast comes from a machine, it is horrible and the rest of breakfast is not impressive. People in reception is really helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights with a group of friends (all booked individually). Hotel staff very friendly and helpful and location is great, very central. However, aircon is set centrally so you can't adjust in your room. Ours was set at 24 degrees, so more heating than aircon, resulted in us turning it off and sleeping with the window open. The... I was supposed to stay at the hotel for 3 nights yesterday but due to illness I could not fly from London and sadly could not do the trip. We were three, we were wasted and we wanted to book a room. Suddenly medium old guy appeard and had screamed to us "fuera". We went. We don't recommend that place. We don't recommend it but we recommend other places that they care about customers.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
