The hostel is very clean, comfortable and quiet, and is run by a most welcoming and kind family. They are always there to answer questions or help out. The location is ideal, with all the shops, bars and restaurants you might want right on the doorstep. All major attractions are within easy walking distance. Wifi quality was excellent. More like...

We stayed here in September and loved it for its central location, great views and atmosphere at a cheap price. The room had a private bathroom and was always clean, our room was right behind reception which was a little noisier but we were never disturbed. We would certainly stay here again and loved Chueca (the neighbourhood). The only downside...

I spend few days in this hostal where I used to go also in the past. They made some renewing works and the final results is very impressive. It's hard to recognize the hostal that was before as now everything is much much better than before. All the furnitures are new, as well as the beds (very confortable) and the...

You won't get much style in a nice part of Madrid for this price. This is a fairly cheap hostal on 3rd floor of an old building. The walls are thin , the doorbell is loud , tapas bars close around 3am and refuse collection is every night. If you're not "relaxed" enough to sleep through this (and you should...

This hostal is great! Very clean, the room was comfortable. Its run by the owners, they are very polite and know the area very well. You are only a few minutes walking from La Gran Via, Plaza Sol, Plaza Mayor and metro station. Will stay there again!

We booked our flights not realizing that the "Beatification" was taking place during those dates )-: It was literally impossible to find private rental accommodation so we were thinking of changing them. We had even tried some of the hotels but everything was fully booked. Then we decided to email Apartamentos Odesa which are under the same management and received...

We were going to Madrid for a long weekend and looked for a cost-effective place to stay for 3 nights and chose the hostel Odesa based on the number of positive reviews on tripadvisor. The hotel is based on the third floor of a building on one of the main roads between Chueca and Gran Via station. What a great...

We have stayed at Hostal Odesa three times now. The neighborhood - Chueca - is a great one: lively, near Gran Via. The price is very good. Our room was quiet. But the best part of Hostal Odesa is the lovely staff. They are very, very sweet! We will stay at Hostal Odesa every time we're in Madrid!

This hostal lies in the center of the city, in the gay area and is great for gay travelers. Others will enjoy to and it's not a gay hostal. Prices are low and the rooms are nice and clean. Staff is friendly, but doesn't speak much English. Very close to metro and it takes about 35 min from the airport...

Hostal Odesa has rather mixed ratings, so when I went there with my partner in June 2013, I was ready to be disappointed. However, we weren't disappointed at all, but instead, rather delighted. This is definitely a budget hotel, so don't expect frills, but we were pleased with the quality of the furnishings, the clean towels every day and the...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
