I was very satisfied by all aspects of the hotel: the location, facilities, cleanliness, and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. There was a wide selection of hot and cold food and drink items at breakfast.

Stayed here for three nights with a friend for an early birthday celebration, our stay was excellent from start to finish. We were greeted at check in by very helpful and friendly staff who immediately quickly and efficiently got us checked in. We had booked a street view room and found complimentary cava and fruit in our room as a...

We stay 4 nights and selected this hotel due to its perfect location in Madrid's city center, with easy access via the subway (Metro) from either train station. Our large room with king bed was very comfortable and had a great view of the Madrid skyline. We walked to all of the major attractions... Prado, Royal Place, Retiro Park &...

Excellent hotel. Really enjoyed it. The location is perfect - right in the centre. 3 mins to Puerta del Sol, 10-15 mins walking to pretty much any place you would want to go - Royal Palace, Prada, etc. Pleasant neighbourhood, with plenty of cafes and tapas bars. Rooms are spacious enough. Good and hot shower. Comfy bed. All clean. We...

We stated at the Catalonia Puerta del Sol for two nights, a group of 10 people. The location is very central and within a short walking distance to Plaza Mayor, and a reasonable walk to Gran Via. Rooms were small, although we found out that rooms (for the same price) are of different sizes, so try and get a bigger...

This hotel is near to key & relevant Metro stations for the centre of Madrid. It is in easy walking distance of The Prado and is even nearer to Plaza Mayor. It was a good enough stop for our long weekend in Madrid.

booking a room for the night of the 25th, to break up our journey from Zamora to Malaga, I was asked to update my credit card details. This I did, only, to be asked again, every day of the five days leading up to our stay, the request followed that the warning that my booking would be cancelled. I knew...

A very good four star hotel in Madrid with a fantastic location that is just 5 mins walk to the Plaza Mayor square. I ordered a room with street view and it was spacious, clean and more importantly comfortable beds and pillows. They have an afternoon team session with complimentary tapas and non alcoholic drinks at the lobby from 5-8pm....

Stayed for 4 days doing the tourist thing. This place was very comfortable, with large (for Europe) rooms. Easy walking access to museums, shops, transportation. Friendly staff with excellent English. Breakfast was excellent, but if you are interested in saving money, there are dozens of places for a coffee and a croissant a few steps away.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
