We stayed here for 4 days. The hotel is about €30 by taxi from the airport, terminal 4. Unsuspecting entrance. Reception on the 2nd floor. Available 24hrs. I already paid the amount. So less interaction with the Spanish speaking front desk. But they can understand English if you speak slow. Room was fine. Towels were clean. Room cleaning services provided...

Just a 3 minute walk from Sol, this hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the heart of Madrid. The hotel is on the 2nd floor of the building and requires you to use the buzzer outside to be let in, but every time I did this it was answered quickly. Check in was quick and efficient, the staff...

This is really a hostel rather than a hostel. the rooms were quite large and comfortable for the price, good beds, shower etc. The location is excellent, 2 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol and 10-15 minutes walk to an endless number of bars, restuarants, shops, the Royal Palace and El Retiro Park. Only minor downside were that there's only...

Excellent location, incredibly clean, WONDERFUL staff, very secure and safe. We traveled here for our anniversary celebration and "babymoon," before our baby is born, and will absolutely return with our kids one day. The location is incredible for getting anywhere in the city and was very easy to find. Joaquim, the staff we saw the majority of the time, was...

The hotel was fine, location easy to fine - a somewhat unorthodox entrance, but we found it! Getting to the third floor was a bit of a task insomuch as the lift was quite small, hence limited space for suitcases. Staircase O.K. for the 'younger' traveller, but in our case not easy to negotiate with remaining cases. Receptionists were very...

Only great thing about the hostal is the location, right in the heart of pld Madrid. But there is very little service. No kettle to even boil water if you want to have a cup of tea in the morning. No glass to drink wine or even a botle opener. No common kitchenette or fridge to store some food that...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

“Had a single room 3rd floor, wasn't bothered too much by sounds from the street, even during the weekend where the neighbourhood is quite lively, but then again, I'm not a light sleeper. Room service daily, linen changed evers second day.toiletries are a bit on the low, you might consider bringing your own - even for a quick stop. Wifi worked well.”
