A well appointed hotel, beautifully furnished in the centre of old Madrid. The reception staff were excellent. We were originally offered an inside room on the 5th floor, but small window overlooking an interior courtyard was not what we wanted and they quickly gave us a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. A wonderful room, light and airy and very comfortable. It had its disadvantages though. Madrid dustmen collect at between 0130 qnd 0330 and make enough noise to awaken the dead. Also noise from the street is amplified and most Spanish do seem to speak rather loudly at 2am! So it is swings and roundabouts. There was a failing in housekeeping with our room not being made up on the second day, it was done rather poorly by an unhappy member of staff at about 1630. The next day the room was cleaned, but used cups not cleaned, coffee and tea not replaced and floor not swept. The dining room was out of order and we took breakfast at the sister hotel Opera just around the corner. The breakfast was excellent, but staff were having to cope with double the numbers which they did well and with a smile. Wonderfully located and well run, the small mistakes did not detract from our stay.…
Great hotel in a prime city centre location. Staff were lovely and always friendly and professional. Rooms clean. Room was small but it’s a city centre hotel so expected that on arrival. Would not hesitate in returning to the hotel in the future. Many thanks.
What a lovely boutique hotel… we had everything we needed and the front desk was fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Greatly appreciated housekeeping service each day and the breakfast was always so nice. Really liked the doors/windows to the balconies — they open two ways to let in fresh air. Mostly quiet street compared to busier parts of Madrid. Ideal location very walkable to everywhere we wanted to go (Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via) and there is even a taxi stand less than a half a block away for further distances, like the Prado and Atocha train station. and Bonus — nice grocery store across the street. And I can’t help but say it — the branding is tops! We will be back!
The location is great close to everything. the room very comfortable and the bathroom with all the necessary amenities. The reception staff very attentive and helpful, especially Noelia. The wonderful breakfast buffet, everything delicious and fresh every day. Definitely a hotel to return to next vacation in Madrid.
Great hotel, very friendly staff, rooms were extremely clean and one of the only hotels in spain that gave us tea/coffee and mugs in our room. The beds were the most comfortable of all the hotels I stayed at in spain. Location was great to walk to all different areas. It was quiet at night. I would definitely recommend.
The hotel is in a fairly quiet street very close to OPERA metro station (3 mins walk) and 5-10 mins walk from the Royal Palace. Our room was on the 4th floor which I think was a good thing as it was away from immediate street noise. Bedroom was a touch small but nothing worth worrying about and had an excellent shower/wc. Tea making facilities in the room and 2 small bottles of water were left each day. There is a small mini market across the street where we bought additional water very cheaply €0.26 for 1.5 litres. Buffet breakfast was excellent - fruit, yoghurts, bread, rolls, toast, fruit juices, fried mushrooms, tomatoes etc, cereals - couldn’t be faulted. All in all we were very pleased with the hotel in every respect and happily recommend it for a stay in the centre of Madrid.…
Can't get over these negative reviews. Stayed 4 nights, lovely hotel, super clean, friendly staff. amazing aircon!! The bed was so comfy and the hotel really quiet. Few more options for breakfast would have been good. Also the gym isn't in the building. Overall amazing stay.
Although here primarily for business this Hotel was absolutely ideally located for exploring Madrid about 100 m from the Opera Metro and The Royal Place and Cathedral very nearby. I needed to go daily to the IFEMA Conference Centre towards the Airport which only took 30 minute by Metro ( when choosing the R, 10 and 8 lines). I had a quiet courtyard room on the second floor, which was on the small size but had all the amenities needed and the AC worked well. The breakfast was simple but perfectly adequate and the staff were very helpful.
My husband and I spent three weeks in May, 2022 in Spain: Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and San Sebastian and stayed mostly in 4 and 5-star hotels, five hotels in total. Hotel Meninas was by far the most disappointing in our hotel experiences in Spain. To add to this, I have to admit that I have never slept on blood stained pillows in any hotel in the world in my whole life! We are talking huge blood stains, very visible and disgusting. But first thing first. When we arrived to the hotel at noon, we felt very tired after a train ride from Barcelona. We were given a small, stuffy, badly decorated room with a tiny, jail-type window facing an ugly wall within a meter of the window. The room was under the stairs at the end of the corridor and in old years could have probably served as a room for the service personnel. When we returned to the front desk and refused to stay in this room, we were told we would need to come back in three hours. Back to the hotel after three hours in the city, we were offered a room on the third floor. This room was decent in size and seemed adequate albeit not as impeccable in terms of the state of repair (old cracked paint on the windows and walls in some places, scuffs and black scruffs on many walls etc). All night we had problems sleeping because of the loud noise of the garbage removal truck from a grocery store located just across the road. But the biggest unpleasant surprise was waiting for me in the morning when I woke up and saw that the interior pillow, inserted in a pillow case was all over stained with huge stains. The realisation that I slept on it all night shocked me and upset me to the point that I started my day on a very bad note. Of course, I brought this pillow to the cleaning lady, who was working in a room nearby and told her to show it to her manager. After breakfast, which was average and had very few choices for me personally, I reported the pillow disaster to the front desk. The front desk lady could only offer her <<I am sorry>> in response. So, Hotel Meninas anyone? Think fifteen times before you say yes to it!…
Exellent location. Good service. Basic breakfast. Rude recepsionists. The single room was very small . Clean room. Few toiletries. Not sunny room. Bad interior view from the room window. There is a kettle in the room for coffee or tea. There is a minibar A poor furnished room.
