This hostel is located on one floor of a building in the gay district of Madrid, a few minutes from Grand Via. I had a late check-in so had to arrange with the Manager to meet me at the property - he is not there 24/7. The budget room was a fair size but en-suite was small. Room was basic... More

If you are gay, Chueca is a must-see. And if you want to live in the area, we can recommend this hostal because of its great location, fair price and polite staff. There is a lot of noise from the streets, but if you like to go out, it's no big problem.

Casa Chueca is in a great location. Great price. Clean. Mario was a very nice host. The only thing I would say is that the single room (#5) has no window so can be a bit stuffy and enclosed feeling. The place was quiet, but any little noise you can hear in all the rooms. I would recommend this place... More

The one annoying thing is that I didn't realize how small this place is. Maybe 6 rooms or so. When I arrived the door was locked. That was really frustrating. There's only one guy who works there, Mario. After like 20 minutes he finally showed up. He apologized profusely and he was very kind. The room was very small and... More

Arriving in Madrid in July with 40 + degrees, became a challenge it self.To find a central, cheap and air conditioned place to stay was not so simple. But here in this Hostal, they had it all,not only central but informative stuff, we left our luggage while we were doing the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage road and they took care of it... More

Comfortable, good location, and reasonable price. My room had a great view onto Gran Via with a Perfect beginning to a new phase of life for me. Never forget it. Great city to meet the kind of interesting guys I like. Being located in the heart of Chueca helped. I didn't remember much Spanish, but menus in lots of languages... More

If you want to stay in Hostel, I recommend this one. Rooms clean. Service ok. Helpful staff. A little bit over priced for a double room in comparison of Hotel offers. But still this is nice choice for a stay in Madrid.

That was my 3rd time in Madrid and I believe I found my place. I had booked 2 rooms and needed to amend the dates for one of them. Mario contacted me and explained to me everything written and verbal on the phone. Upon arrival he knew my name and gave me a warm honest welcome. When my other friend... More

The room was very clean and nice with all the facilities that are needed and Sr.Mario is a very attentive and nice person. The house is in a very good location, near all the attractions and museums. Even though the street in busy at night, the soundproof windows make it easy to sleep. I will certainly stay here in my... More

Casa Chueca is a great little hostal in the heart of Madid's buzzing, bohemian centre. Chueca is just off the Gran Via in the Spanish capital and the Metro Gran Via is a short walk from Casa Chueca. The host, Mario was very kind and helpful and the rooms were very clean, cute and very reasonable. It is a great... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
