The price was right and the place was reasonably quiet, but that's all I can say in favor of this place. The bed was horrible - at times it felt like I was going to fall onto the bunk below mine. There was 1 key for a hostel room containing 6, so my belongings were left out in the open... More

A friend and I stayed in this hostel between 2-6th July, and although we found it disappointing facillities wise, the hostel reflected the (very cheap) price we paid for it. We were told we would have a balcony bedroom but did not, there were only 2 bathrooms for around 15 bedrooms (both often without loo roll) and the kitchen was... More

This place is not as advertised on its website. It is not really a hostel, it appears to be more a hotel that downgraded into a hostel in order to be able to fit more beds. Staff was rude and unfriendly. The rooms were run down with mismatched sheets and the bunk beds creaked like there was no tomorrow. There... More

The site for this hostal portrays a seemingly good hostal but beware! The location was fabulous it was a shame that I had no idea of where it was located, there were no maps on the info desk just a mess of postcards and bits and pieces not really related to travel in Madrid.I arrived very late, and very tired... Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
