I was at the hotel last week with my elderly mother and we both felt very happy and comfortable. Everyone was efficient, polite, very helpful and friendly. We would love to stay there again. Thank you!!!

Nice area, friendly staff, but cocktails were overpriced. Would stay again, but not have any cocktails. The fact that it was near Metro and downtown Madrid was a plus. Also, if you are attending a concert at BarcleyCard Center, this is a good place to stay.

Stayed 1 night, hotel was close to my office. Standard room was ok, space was limited. Room service options seemed to be local takeaways which I thought was weird. But I had eaten, so wasn't an issue. Overall it was comfortable and convenient, though I have stayed in nicer hotels in Madrid.

Catalonia Goya is a great hotel in an excellent location- the Salamanca district. Rooms are spacious and comfortable although a little dark. Breakfast ok but not great. Restaurant menu limited and possibly needs more clarity for travellers. My meal was great but my husband's main course turned out to be the size of an appetiser. We would not hesitate to... More

The good: The location is excellent on a major avenue in Madrid: Goya Avenue; most of the major attractions are within a 15-30 mn walk The not so good: - Rooms are tight (the room we rented was advertised to allow for an extra person on a sofa bed; once you open the sofa bed zero space is left for... Very good hotel, but a little pricey. Nice rooms, very clean. The only minor complain is that I wanted a late checkout but they were fully booked, so I had to leave the room in a hurry. Breakfest is very expensive but the quality is simply amazing.

Very pleasant stay... enjoyed everything, from staff to decor and room quality. Did not experience the restaurant. The lobby seemed tight tough but understandable since it is an adaptation from an already existing building...

The Catalonia Goya is located in the beautiful Salamanca district, walking distance to the major historical sites and the beautiful Retiro Park. There are many restaurants and cafes within 2 blocks for a quick breakfast or tapas. The hotel staff was very accomodating. They spoke English as well as other European languages.

Dear Madam, Thank you very much for your comment. Sorry so much, but we think that there is a little mistake in your words, because our hotel is in Madrid and we aren´t located near Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Kind Regards and have a nice day More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
