I wasn't expecting much because I was staying one night for business and chose location accordingly. Very pleased with the way it turned out. Walking distance to my meetings and a very nice, understated hotel. The room was quite small, but not cramped. No significant view from the room, but very quiet and the trompe l'oeuil murals of windows on...

We enjoyed our stay at the Totem Hotel in the trendy Salamanca area of Madrid. The rooms are cute and comfy. The Salamanca area is a popular, upscale neighborhood with lots of elegant shops and restaurants. We were on a busy schedule and definitely did not have enough time in Madrid this trip, but I look forward to returning. We...

Great location, new and beautiful facilities e kind staff that help you whatever you need. A la carte breakfast menu can be something a bit inconvenient if you are accustomed to buffet. The gym is small.

Excellent group of people making you feel at home, kind. Great restaurant, a little short menu for more than a few weeks use. We wanted to eat there because of the quality but the menu for breakfast and dinner was short.

We stayed at Totem for over a week as part of our first stop in Spain. It really does look as cool as the pictures on the website. You can tell the hotel is hot right at this moment. There were interviews, photo shoots, Vogue articles. This elegant Salamanca hotel nears tons of local shops and restaurants but also close...

Stayed her for work. Have tried other hotels in the Salamanca area and this is by far the best. Room not overly large but very comfortable with a small couch and table - perfect for eating room service. Room service was a good standard. I've found the standard of room service to be quite low in spain so this was...

Totem. Wonderful reception staff, bar staff, rooms, beds, showers. The location was brilliant too as you are in a smart quiet area with great shops and cafes 10 minutes from Parc retiro and another 5 to the Prado.

Firstly I will say the staff in general were excellent. I don't think they knew the area they worked in very well (they didn't know anything about local Restaurants for example) but they were pleasant and given what they were working with they were very patient. In terms of the hotel. The rooms were spacious without being massive and the...

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
