We went for breakfast there and the old man at the bar was so confused that he kept getting the orders wrong and when we corrected him he kept swearing in spanish in a low voice. Later at the table, the service was hurried stressed and angry...they even served our orange juice in a smaller glass than the others...don't ever...

I stumbled across this hotel by chance and what a find! It's a small hotel, but in the most perfect location! Situated on the corner of the beautiful Plaza Santa Ana, it's a bustling square with lovely bars/cafes serving anything from breakfast to tapas. The rooms face onto the square, but they have good sound proofing, I wouldn't say it...

We were really very glad we chose this hotel. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient with all the tourist spots within walking distance, and good restaurants nearby. The room was spacious & the shower was very good. Air-conditioning was very effective (when temperatures were 42 C outside). It is economical & clean. Fresh towels everyday....

This hotel is in the perfect location. It is a 5 minute work from Puerta del Sol - which is on one of the main metro lines. The hotel is right on the corner of Plaza de Santa Ana, which is busy every night . We were on the second floor, right on the plaza, which we thought was going...

Stayed here for 4 nights. Our room was tiny, but the great view at Plaza Santa Ana with its magic life opens from the small balcony. Hotel location is really fantastic. It’s walking distance to everything in the city. The Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums are about 10 mins walk, literature lovers will enjoy Cervantes monument (there are 2 in the...

The main advantage of this hotel is undoubtedly it's location. Easy walk to all the main sights and lots of restaurants and bars in the area. The room we had was small so may be worth asking when booking as I think there are some larger rooms available. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The inclusive breakfast is adequate but no...

The Miau is a very nice facility with small rooms but very nicely designed. The single I stayed in was on the first floor and it had access to a small balcony with wood doors and an aluminum frame to block out the street noise. The staff was willing to assist with anything they could even though our difficulty in...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
