Overall a great well appointed hotel, with attentive staff. We used this as a base for our 3 day trip to Madrid in Sep 2013 and we loved every minute. We got a room with a balcony overlooking Recoletos street and it was great to watch the world go by. If you've been reading some of the other reviews, then...

Our stay here was as good as it gets. Excellent location friendly helpful staff, clean room sized perfectly for two people. We arrived from the air port very early and the Hotel held our luggage as we walked just over 10 minutes to the Prado. When we returned our bags were in our room. We always ask for a quiet...

We stayed here for 5 miserable nights in September. We are leaving now and I cannot wait. Whoever designed these rooms should be fired. It is impossible to go to the bathroom. No sound or light insulation. Putting a glass wall between the bedroom and the bathroom and placing the toilet right on the side closest to the bedroom is...

Had a room with a small window over an empty courtyard. You could have this hotel room anywhere in the world. It was dark and I always had to switch on the light. The bathroom had glass walls. Okay when you are alone... I enjoyed the location and surroundings of the hotel, less than a minute from the Parque del...

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in July. We had two rooms, and both were modern, comfortable and good-sized. Too much emphasis has been placed on prior reviews regarding the opaque wall between the bathroom and the bedroom -- it was no big deal at all, with the exception that the light from the bathroom...

We stayed here for 3 nights and had 2 rooms. My kids room (2 twin beds) was really big so if you want a larger room go for 2-twin. Hotel is in a great location, nice quiet street, short walk to restaurants, 2 metro stations and a lot of attractions. Rooms were very modern and spotless clean. We had a...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights this past July 2013. The location is great. There is a 5 min walk to a metro station. It is also steps away from the "Retiro" Park which was great for us since we traveled with our 3 yr old daughter. There are several places very close to the hotel with good...

This Marriott hotel is pretty nice. Stayed here for five nights during a business trip in June. Really like the fact that we were close to a couple of different train stops. The train system in Madrid is really easy to use and pretty cheap! The room was very modern. The bathroom is enclosed in fogged glass, which was cool!...

Don't be turned off by the unimpressive lobby ... the rooms are lovely. The hotel is nicely located in a side street off Calle de Serrano, five minutes away from Calle de Goya shopping in one direction and five minutes away from the red double-decker bus in the other. Cheerful, helpful people at the front desk; spacious and bright room...

I stayed there for 5 nights. It is pretty well located near the train and the metro. The staff was really helpful and the room (we got the one on the corner) was really big with 2 showers. Great service!

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
