its a good place to stay which is in the heart of the city. Place is quite nice, comfortable and clean. Atmosphere is electric and quite friendly. Found a bit expensive and its on 2nd floor with no lifts. tough to carry luggage though but assistance can be provided if you need one from reception.

Great hostel, can't fault it. Clean and new, staff and other travellers very friendly and go out of their way to get people talking. Free dinners - very tasty and as above a way of getting people to socialise. Cold sodas or beers for a euro. Nice kitchen. No bunk beds which is great, aircon in the rooms, a hair...

This hostel is as good as it gets. Even though I screwed up my dates they were able to give me a room for 3 nights. Friendly staff, free dinner, laundry service for a small fee, beer for 1 euro, and daily activities are all great. They keep the place nice and tidy, and the location can't be beat. But...

Everything was great! The staff is very accommodating and wanted to make you feel at home. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless and it felt like someone was constantly cleaning (not a bad thing!). Loved the efficiency of the laundry service. Free dinners (pasta one night, lentils the other). I would recommend asking for a room on the second floor...

My first Hostel experience and it was brilliant. Staff are very helpful. Communal free dinner at 9 was a great way to meet people and the nights out were awesome. A special shout to Fresh who was very helpful in a difficult situation. Thanks a lot! Would definitely recommend this place!

Betty at reception was incredibly helpful about what to do in Madrid, and for directions. All the staff, including Fresh, Angel, Polina, Chris, & Mobo are very welcoming, and made me feel at home. The included dinner was good and going out together after dinner was a lot of fun. My room was comfortable with 4 single beds, and AC,...

When researching hostels in Madrid I came across this very well rated hostel and wasn't surprised to see that it was part of the "Hostel One" chain. They aren't a big chain of hostels but I've stayed in three of them now and they never fail to impress. Like the other hostels, the staff here were amazing. Very friendly and...

I've stayed in a lot of hostels, this place is a gem!! The staff are so helpful, they know so much about Madrid and will tell you before you even ask. I also got helpful travel advise for the rest of my trip - where a member of the staff looked up possible destinations and accommodation for me (thanks Paulina!)...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
