Hotel Melilla Puerto is, as the reviews suggest, the best hotel in Melilla. Having said that, there is not a great deal of competition, but that does not detract from the quality of the hotel. The reception area that greets you is clean and shiny, and filled with pleasant chairs and friendly staff members. A lift is always available to take you to a reasonably cosy room with a comfy bed and, in our case at least, a spacious living area. We played the traditional, obligatory game of 'find the exact point where the shower is not scalding hot or freezing cold' in the bathroom, but once we found the spot, it proved to be dependable for the duration of our stay. We had a Seaview room, which was worth the extra few Euros, but did mean we were subject to some sort of mini riot in the carpark below at about four or five on Sunday morning, which kept us awake for a bit. The breakfast was pretty good, with some varied and tasty offerings that included a decent selection of hot and cold food (although no ketchup was readily available). All things considered, our stay was very enjoyable and the city of Melilla well worth a visit; we will probably return at some point and we will almost definitely stay at this hotel once again, although I may bring my own ketchup.

Based on some older reviews I was wondering what I would find, but the hotel has now (I checked) completed it’s refurbishment and I had the pleasure of being one of the first (maybe the first) guests in one of the refurbished suites. Natalia (sp?) professionally and in a friendly manner sorted a check in issue (thanks to the Meliá app not the hotel) and I got to my room which had a lovely view of the port and was very light and spacious - also had not just a bath but a spa bath with a view - so many places after a refurb have taken all tubs away! The hotel is in the perfect location - most of the things to do/see in Melilla are a few minutes walk away, as are many good restaurants. Oh and they don’t treat you like a clothes hanger thief (been a bugbear of mine for years - photo incl!)

Good: the friendliness of the staff, location, quiet and very good breakfast.
Bad: mattress protector that wrinkles, made of bad and uncomfortable plastic.
Unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Lack of towel rack to hang the towel from the sink. Some drawer in the closet to put underwear. Poor cleaning of the windows

Tryp hotel is in a great location opposite the port of Melilla. However it is now looking rather dated and would benefit from a refurb for sure ! There is visible damage to parts of the exterior where concrete is falling away ! Staff are efficient and friendly. Rooms comfortable but dated decor.

The rooms are very nice, the beds are very comfortable, as are the pillows.
I wanted to highlight the excellent staff they have, both at reception and at breakfast and in the restaurant. They are all VERY friendly and professional. They always treat you wonderfully, with a smile and desire to please.
Congratulations. They're the best in the hotel.

Centrally located hotel, with a spacious reception, quiet and comfortable room and very friendly staff - both at reception and in the cafeteria and tapas bar. Varied breakfast buffet and tapas bar with an extensive and tasty menu. We had dinner both nights. I would recommend this hotel. The Parador is far away and the slope is very steep.

I have lived in other Tryp hotels in other locations and they fare better. Restaurants are good. Was not offered nor explained about my breakfast that my companion would be free due to my status. They give me the impression they do not really care about the biz from me

We stayed here as part of an inspection trip when looking to buy in Morocco. The hotel is quiet, yet centrally located. Melilla is so small that the fort, marina, old town and beach are all within an easy stroll. The hotel has a big marble entrance and typically Spanish decor. The rooms are to the usual 4 star standard, bathroom quite spacious and a good selection of toiletries. The only unusual feature was that the floors are laminate wood, which I thought may be noisy, but wasn't a problem in the end. We only saw one other English couple during our two days in Melilla, and although the staff speak only a few words of English they were all very friendly and made an effort to help us out, as our Spanish doesn't extend much beyond "ola" etc. We found the service to be quick and friendly - especially in the busy downstairs tapas bar, which is obviously a favourite local haunt. The restaurant was closed on the first night for a wedding, but we ate there the second night and the food was excellent. Adjusting to Spanish eating was a change for us as the restaurant didn't open until 9.30 and so the locals were just arriving to start eating as we left the restaurant at the end of our meal. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would recommend the hotel.

Whenever is possible, I always choose a Melia hotel. They never disappoint me. We asked for a double bed, nice views and we get a very nice room with fantastic views to the sea. The lobby is very nice and well decorated. It is true that the hotel rooms need some renovations. Pros: Wi-Fi is for free, Small cons: No business center, small fitness room but, who cares?. Melilla is so welcome, sunny and enjoyable that we spent most of our time exploring all possible places for visiting. Hotel staff is very professional, they are fully customer oriented (so the rest of Melia hotels). It is advisable to join the loyalty card because you get 2x1 breakfast. Wide variety of choices in the breakfast buffet, including “tortilla de patatas” and fresh fruit. Coffee is excellent. Some improvements: Hot dishes (bacon, fried egss…) are not really hot, cereals are packed.
Hotel location is very convenient: It is 10 minutes away from the City Hall and Old City. The area is safe, Melilla is full of security forces and the Maritime Promenade is very busy with runners and families.
There are other options in Melilla:, but the hotel Russadir has no views. The Parador is very nice, but after a day walking and visiting places, to climb up to the top of the hill is really painful. Definitively, the Melia hotel is the best option.

The Tryp hotel is a very welcoming place. Good location. Staff is helpful and gave us very good advice on where to eat or have a drink!
Breakfast is very nice. And we had a great room on the 5th floor with view on the puerto!
Near the sea and 5minutes walking from city center and old town!
