What a great spot! The rooms are unique carved into caves but really great lighting and careful design ensure that you will not feel claustaphobic. The furnishings are lovely, contemporary and comfortable. The location was perfect with many fabulous places to eat within a few minute walk. Parking is challenging but we were directed to a reasonably priced garage a short walk away. Our hosts were terrific with so many helpful suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Continental breakfast was very good. I can highly recommend a stay here on your visit to Matera!

We stayed here for New Years and the place was beautifully situated in the centre of the Sassi, below the Church of Santa Maria de Idris. We were welcomed by Sara who was very friendly and gave us lots of useful and interesting information about Matera, including recommendations of nice places to eat. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed the streetview from our window.

We stayed 2 nights. Great location in the sassi and we stayed in a beautifully presented room in a cave! I don't usually comment about the room lighting but it was very well done "mood" lighting and was important given the lack of outside light. Plenty of hangers - always a plus for me! Fridge and tea making facilities in room. Glass wall between bedroom and bathroom meant little privacy (if that bothers you!). Comfy bed. Nice modern bathroom with large shower. "Dainty" breakfast - lots of different types of cake all neatly cut. Also local cheeses, egg, yoghurts and fruit on offer. Juice/water plus various coffees made to order. Friendly staff.

We stayed in this magnificent B&B where my rating is more than positive. Starting from the spotless room, delicious and plentiful breakfast from sweet to savory, location in the center of the stones therefore perfect and lastly the people who work there are incredibly kind. What can I say, if you think carefully, choose this structure🔝

Typical structure, very welcoming and modern in furnishings. Excellent cleaning. The size of the room for 3 guests is a little small and there is little space for luggage. However, we only had one suitcase but if we had had more there would not have been room.
Worth noting is the extreme kindness and competence of the staff.
Excellent breakfast. I would suggest to the Hotel to prefer the artisanal jams already present at the buffet to those packaged in the plastic boxes which are now placed alongside the former.
The strategic position of the structure and overall the excellent service make it an almost perfect accommodation in terms of quality/price ratio.

This is a small 10-room family run hotel located directly in the Sassi. The rooms have separate external entrances. Breakfast is in the main building, just a few steps away. Sara is organized and communicated well through WhatsApp pending our arrival. The walk into the Sassi from the recommended parking garage is all downhill upon arrival (uphill upon leaving). Sometimes, the owner can pick you up from the garage, depending on availability and timing. Our room (#3) was very comfortable and well equipped. It is right on one of the many paths/ stairways that criss-cross the Sassi, so we occasionally heard passersby during the daytime. Countless restaurants are just steps away. Breakfast is included and has both hot and cold offerings.

Matera bewitched us thanks to its charm hidden among alleys… Fascinating during the day… as evocative as it is at night!!!
Our hotel, thanks to its particularly brilliant host knowledgeable about the history of his city, gave us a wonderful stay.
Hospitality, warmth, availability among the main qualities of the structure, of those who manage it with passion without neglecting attention to design and cleanliness.
The sweet and savory breakfast is also excellent, with tasting of honey and homemade jams.
A piece of our heart remained there.

Super top structure located in the heart of the splendid Matera and completely carved out of the Caveoso stone, with beautiful, high-level rooms in tuff stone and wood. Exquisite kindness of the Host and staff. Excellent breakfast, with many delicious desserts and tasty focaccias and bruschetta, served in the separate but very close central building where the reception is also located, also in typical Matera style. 10 and praise

Hotel located in the heart of the Sassi. Exotic and modern rooms are quite spacious but be careful if you are claustrophobic, some rooms do not have windows so you must specify this when booking. Good bedding, comfortable bed, clean room when we arrived but the cleaning service the next day was not great. Breakfast ok but could be improved. When we arrived, the receptionist at reception was very warm, helpful and welcoming, however initially the one who was present was not at all. We had to leave the hotel early at 7 a.m. to reach Bari airport so we could not have breakfast there. We had asked for bottles of water for the road and she asked that we pay for them. But when she saw our surprise and our dissatisfaction she quickly retracted. In short, if you are looking for exoticism, yes for this hotel without expecting too much for breakfast and service.

We stayed at Le Malve Cave Retreat for 3 nights on March 2024 and we really enjoyed our stay. Sara welcomed us and gave us some reccomendations on where to go and what to do during our stay in the city, it is always priceless to be made to feel welcome. Matera is an unbelivable city and just staying in this city is amazing, BUT (!) staying in this hotel made the experience so much better for us. It is located in a fastic place, short walk from everything, but quiet. Bare in mind we were travelling in March so I do not know if it gets more busy around during high season, but for us it was wonderful. The room was clean, bed was quite comfortable and the shower was good. Besst of all the room was very spacious and nice which was fantastic as during our stay we had 2 days of bad weather weather, but we didn't mind as we really got the experience just by cozying up in our cave. Our Room was Deluxe Trippla (room 16) and we really loved it. I would definitely book it again.
