Excellent location in the Sassi of Matera, in front of the Murgia, kind and helpful owners, excellent cleanliness. Breakfast is good with an agreement in a nearby bar. The rooms have a microwave and a coffee maker and then a fridge with bottles of water to return.

Sassolino is at the bottom of the Sassi Caveoso so you are right in the middle of the action from the minute you walk out the door. There is buses and taxis within minutes and plenty of hotels and restaurants in walking distance.
The view was amazing even from the balcony of the property (shared with the 3 rooms).
Lino was amazing. He met us personally at the property - we were early so he let us drop bags while the room clean was being completed. He walked us to the restaurant at the bottom of the street (which I see other reviews have mentioned) and booked us for dinner that night. He also arranged a cab for us to the train station when we left.
Breakfast is a voucher for the cafe about 50m from the property and the coffee and pastries there were great. Or there is a coffee machine and some snacks in the room.
It is a 10 minute walk up the road (with shops and restaurants along the whole way) to get to the top of the Sassi and to the main town if you want to head up for shopping etc. (easy walk). Or if you want to explore the alleys and streets of the Sassi, you are right in the middle of it. There is plenty of steps if you go this way so wear good shoes.
We had the upstairs room which was a large comfortable bedroom with air conditioning. The bathroom is downstairs and this room has no windows so if either of those are an issue for you, maybe ask for one of the other rooms. We found it fine as we were there for 3 days and were out most of the day in any event. Would stay here again no problems (and thank you again Lino for all your help)

Fantastic experience staying in the heart of old town Sassi di Matera! The room was clean and comfortable and included a coffee machine. Our host Patrizia was very communicative and helpful with check in. She helped us book a tour of Sassi di Matera the same afternoon we checked in. In the room we stayed in, the bathroom is downstairs the the bedroom is upstairs. This was ok for us, but just to be aware. We got a coupon for breakfast to go two doors down to a cafe. It include a coffee and a croissant. It was so valuable staying in the historic center to wander around. The parking is about .5 miles away and then you have to walk your luggage there. We planned ahead and just brought an overnight backpack since we were only there one night. That worked well for us. The garage was 1 euro per hour so for us it came to 20 euro for 20 hours.

What about this jewel in the center of Matera: sublime. Harmonious, beautiful and welcoming rooms, An exceptional host, makes all the difference. Lino, an affable person, smiling, patient and super helpful, even when not required, spends on the customer and suggestions on everything from the restaurant to the Guide excursion. All at more than modest and super competitive prices. I have to say thank you to a friend who recommended it but I would return another 1000 times. Do not miss it, in Matera the top Thanks Lino!

We were guests in this structure and right before arriving we were struck by the kindness and availability of Mr. Lino in giving us the right indications both for parking and for what to visit in Matera. The room is well kept and clean and the structure is located in the historic center. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the beautiful Matera and without any doubt my family and I will be guests of Mr. Lino again with great pleasure. Alexandra.

Helpful information from the host regarding arrival and parking. Warm welcome on site by the hosts Patrizia and Lino. The rooms are large, lovingly furnished and have a lot of charm. Lino gave us lots of tips for sightseeing and restaurants and booked straight away. Great service! Great location, easy to get to and lots of restaurants in the area. Breakfast all' italiana is available in a nearby bar. The accommodation is absolutely recommended!!

Fabulous location, with a great view - clean and comfortable. Our room (not depicted on Trip Advisor) was converted from the dining room - so new and modern bathroom, small bedroom but amazing high ceiling that made it feel big. Coupon for breakfast just a few steps away at the local cafe and coffee, tea and a small fridge in the room. A great choice for Matera.

We were excited to be staying in this b&b and had booked and confirmed accommodation 6 months prior. We were told 5 days prior to our arrival (whilst we were already travelling os) that our room would no longer be provided due to construction problems. We understand residence sometimes have problems however we were extremely surprised that you did not assist us find alternative accommodation given that it was such short notice to cancel and matera had a festival at the time. (Other b&b owners advised us that it is customary for you to assist us find other roome). We rang other b&bs that were full but they helped us find a lovely private apartment. We had hoped to give sassolino great reviews but your service was so disappointing.

My wife, friend and I stayed in this two bedroom B&B and loved it. The owner, Lino, gave us a full intro when we arrived and couldn't have been friendlier. When we woke, the tables were set and breakfast was waiting. The B&B is in a very convenient location in Matera and we parked right across the street (parking in Matera can be a big problem). The beds are very comfortable which is important to us. A plus is Lino's store with local food products and wine next to the B&B. He treated us to tasting some wine and many of the products, and we gladly bought some to take on the rest of our vacation. Lino's recommendations for restaurants were also excellent.

"Sassolino B&B has only 2 rooms. The first floor room has a window to the outside and a small adjoining bathroom(If you are at all claustrophobic go for the second floor, the shower is tiny on the first floor). Second floor has a larger room with no outside window and the bathroom is down the flight of stairs, but completely private. Either room would be fine. the second floor room has the larger bathroom."
There are more places to choose from in the Matera area.
