My husband and I stayed in Matera for two nights and really enjoyed our stay at B&B Nel Muro. We were looking for an affordable place in a convenient location with great views, and we found it with this hotel. Our room had one large shared patio/balcony overlooking the sassi as well as the gorge and rock churches. It's tucked away in a quiet area. The room was relatively simple but met all of our basic needs and was very clean. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning, including fresh baked bread and homemade jams, and it was really delicious. Be advised that the owners do not speak much English, so if your Italian is not very strong, you may need to use google translate (as we did) during your stay in order to communicate. Additionally, you have to park your car outside of the old town (in a free parking area), then walk in with your luggage, which was a little bit confusing, but we managed. Overall, we loved Matera and had a great stay at this B&B, and would not hesitate to return.

My daughter and I chose this accommodation for our first trip to Matera. Immediately Mrs. Tonia and family proved extremely kind and available to give us all the information required. The room extremely clean and central for travel. We recommend it and will definitely return as soon as possible!

Logistically well located, very close to the Duomo. The room is very clean and well maintained. You will also find a kettle and a coffee machine in the room. The lady is very helpful and friendly. Beautiful panorama, just in front of the Murgia. Absolutely recommended.

Fantastic city. If you're a culture vulture, you'll love this place. This place is absolutely gorgeous!! The BnB we stayed in was very clean! Very polite staff! In the morning, where we had breakfast, we had a fabulous view of the old caverns (MURGE) across the mountains. The BnB it self is located in the city centre. We will be coming back for sure next year!!!!

Clean rooms in a good location for easy exploring of this fascinating town. The B & B is built onto one of the cave dwellings typical of this region and the view from outside is stunning. The owner was very helpful and welcoming. The owner's home is part of the B & B so it can be quite noisy with his family if you happen to be in the room during the afternoon & early evening time. It is however quiet at night. The owner kindly gave us and our luggage a lift back to our car having helped us find the place the previous evening. Breakfast was excellent with homemade cake, yogurt and jams.

Well, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it was a wonderful week end with my husband in this unique & peculiar city.Tonia and Giuseppe, the hosts, were very nice, and most important, the room and the bathroom were very clean. It's just that it was a little different from what I expected after reading the reviews: for instance I didn't know that the room was located in another street from where I had breakfast, which was served in the family small kitchen on a very small table, and not on any terrace looking on the sassi( it's just a balcony, anyway). I didn't know that the room might be very humid and warm, since there's no air circulation: moreover I have to share the house with another guest, so I couldn't keep the door open. He left the door of his room open when he left, so I noticed that his room had a tv, while there was no tv in mine. I really appreciate Tonia's efforts to make the guests feel confortable, it's just that I think it's fear to be objective to the tripadvisor' s members. That's why I like and use tripadvisor everytime I travel.

The city view is hard to beat, the location - close to the cathedral - could not be better. They serve you breakfast and there is a small fridge to keep your drinks cool. The room is very small, as is the bed.

Spent 1 night with my girlfriend and parents. Had a great time, the rooms are big and clean and the breakfast is great. The host family are very friendly. Wifi works allright. The location is great, very close to i sassi and with a great view. Only reason for not getting 5 stars is that the parking is a bit difficult - you park on a free street 15 minutes away on foot. The host family pick you up by car. Works okay though. I Reccommend the place.

Staying in this B&B is a unique experience. It's hidden in one of the extraordinary streets of the Sassi of Matera, a quiet oasis and still in walking distance from the cathedral and the main squares where in summer, everyone meets for a walk, drink or ice cream. The room we stayed in was a recently renovated studio with small kitchen, spic and span bathroom and airco and offered 100% privacy and character. The owners are super friendly, very helpful and served a basic but delicious Italian breakfast.
