Hi, we are Vincenzo and Carla, a french-italian couple who fell in love in Matera' Sassi. After a long and painstaking restoration process we are really happy to welcome you in our historical dwelling right in the center of one of the most fascinating quarters of Sassi, Rione Malve. It's a fantastic place with a timeless atmosphere in which you will rediscover, history and tastes, serenity and joy of life. That's the reason why we decided to call it La Dolce Vita... The Italian Way of Life!!!Our BnB is right in the centre of the main turistic itineraries of Matera' Sassi, in-between the two marvellous rupestrian churches of Santa Lucia alle Malve and Madonna dell’Idris.La Dolce Vita offers two nice apartments of 540 and 645 square feet with private bathroom, tv, living room and a free Wifi Internet connection. The huge outdoors will give you the opportunity enjoy the fantastic scenery of Sassi.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
This was truly a wonderful experience. We felt right at home and Vincenzo was an incredible host who truly helped make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed in a spacious 2 story room with a big kitchen. It was very clean and decorated nicely. Breakfast was set up promptly in a beautiful room every morning and included a nice spread. We will definitely be back to stay at La Dolce Vita!

La Dolce Vita is in a prime location, just a few steps from the main thoroughfare. We are English speaking travelers and find Vincenzo and Carla's English to be so fluent it was very easy to have not just a conversation but an in-depth one about Matera, about Italy and about the history of Matera. Vincenzo came and met us and I must apologize profusely because we got so lost and made Vincezo wait for over an hour in a pre-determined location. He waited patiently without complaint. Vincenzo's passion for Matera is so infectious that we also fell in love with this beautiful land. Now the room: the "cave/room" we were in was tastefully decorated with all the best modern day comforts. Hot water, warm heaters, bright beautiful pristine room during an exceptionally cold, wet and windy spring of 2023 and Vincenzo's excellent recommendations made our stay a 10+ experience ! Don't forget to look on the ceilings and walls for fossils embedded in the rocks and the ancient rain collecting channels and cistern. The place is more beautiful than the photos shown !

We spent 3 nights here, while in magical Matera. Located in the Sasso Caveoso, and around the corner from the Santa Maria de Idris, you are right in the heart of Matera with all sightseeing points of interest and restaurants easily reachable on foot.
We had the Casa Camino - such a spacious and atmospeheric cave room with its unique design elements and tasteful restoration. Vincenzo is a very hands on host, very proud of and knowledgeable about his city and the region. He guided us to a safe parking outside the city (the historic centre is all a ZTL), and picked/dropped us to and from when we arrived/left. He walked us through a map of Matera in extensive detail, sharing a lot of useful input on our overall itinerary as well.
We had breakfast at a communal table, and enjoyed interacting with other guests. Matera is spectacular beyond words, and our stay at La Dolce Vita made our stay even more memorable.

We stayed in Sassi Matera for 2nights. Vincenzo made sure our trip to Matera was unforgetable, he spoke really good english, he came to pick us up, helped us safely park our car and drove was to Sassi. He explained us everything on a map and gave us excellent tips. The room was amazing - “in the cave”, really clean, well equiped and cosy. The bed was really comfortable. The location couldn’t be better - we just loved getting lost in the city streets. The city is amazing, staying in old sassi is a must! we spoilt ourselves with the sunrise views, good food and vine. The food for breakfast was local and really tasty. Vincenzo knows a lot and he is an expert for the city, we loved listening to his stories and explanations as he really does everything eith passion. La Dolce Vita facilities are really sustainable - from watering plants with rainfall water tanks, home compost of bio waste to app for constant monitoring of perfect room temperature. Our stay at Vincenzo’s La Dolce Vita was perfect! If you are lucky that he has some rooms available for your dates, we would defenitelly recommend it to any traveller wanting to experience this beautiful city of Matera in the best was possible.

Ideally located in the heart of the sassi, a B&B that will remain in our memories. Very pleasant troglodyte room and breakfast room, decorated with great taste and authenticity. Detailed explanations on the sassi in French by Vincenzo who also helped us park the car in a free parking lot and transported us to the B&B.

Located in the heart of the Sasso Caveoso, the iconic Madonna of Idris is just steps away. This location is close to excellent restaurants in addition to countless spectacular views. Bring your walking shoes (non-slip soles are a good idea)!
Vincenzo is an outstanding host. He will help you park outside of the limited traffic area and drive you to the B&B.
We really enjoyed the excellent breakfast, sitting around a community table with other fellow guests. We would definitely stay at La Dulce Vida on return trip to Matera.

We stayed 3 nights in this B&B, located in Sasso Caveoso, in a strategic position to easily visit the historic districts of Matera on foot. This property is family run, the owners live nearby. Vincenzo is a very hospitable and helpful person, who deeply loves his city. Our room, Bubola room, was very cozy and clean. The breakfast is excellent and plentiful. If we were to return, I would definitely stay here. In the meantime, let's pass the word on to friends and relatives.

We just left Matera with a pinch in our heart but pictures full of head. It was really superb and what about Vincenzo’s accommodation which is just fantastic. We were at the Camino room which was very beautiful and very large with just what it takes in ventilation, heating, brightness. Strongly recommend for an unforgettable experience.

Clean, comfortable accommodation, very well located and very pretty. Warm and welcoming host, who passionately transmits the history of the city. A very practical shuttle service to reach the accommodation which is not accessible by car like the rest of the old town. A perfect stay in every way, we recommend!

I stayed at this property for 2 nights with a friend. The experience of sleeping in a cave is fantastic! The b&b is located in a very convenient position for visiting Matera which is an incredible city! Cleanliness, courtesy and friendliness are at the top! Vincenzo, the owner, is an exceptional person: in addition to being very nice and making us feel like "family", he was very helpful, seeing to us personally. I advise!

I think you didn't get my message yesterday. We do have cats in hour home ... there are no cats or dogs in our rooms.
But if your are allergic I think is better not to take risks
"Do communicate early with the hosts to arrange parking or pick up.
There is so much to see and experience that I would also recommend at least three nights. "
