Excellent location; the room in the stones, revised in a modern minimalist key, very elegant.
Outside our room we had a small terrace overlooking the city... all this allowed us to experience the Sassi of Matera with an immersive experience that literally made us fall in love with Matera and its Sassi.
The icing on the cake was the breakfast which offered sweet and savory with very fresh products and truly excellent raw materials.
Compliments also to the welcome; kindness and availability from which you can perceive the dedication and passion for their work on the part of those who manage the structure.
Thank you for letting us "meet" the stones of Matera!

Arriving by bus in Matera at Piazza Matteotti, it cost €10 to get to the hotel. It is on a road, so the taxi can stop in front. There are no public stairways to access the hotel just 7 or 8 steps. It's in a most wonderful location right in Sasso area, close to all the sites & restaurants & bars.
Reception closes at 20:00 but they give you a phone number should you need it
We were so graciously greeted by Annamaria, given a map and tourist info including restaurants. She also showed us to our room & explained the air con, heater and keys.
All I can say about our room was wow! Its room number 4, so if you get a chance choose this 1. It is really a 2 bedroom with a fabulous balcony with access by 1 door & another door opens out onto a terrace. Fabulous views all round. It has vaulted ceilings, with brick floors. Plenty of hanging space, a fridge with drinks for sale, a tv, coffee/tea making and very reliable wifi. The bed is really comfortable & its very quiet, making for a good nights sleep.
Our ensuite has a roomy shower stall with a rain shower and hot water. The drying rack works well.
Breakfast is served each morning 8-10. Its buffet style with plenty of choice. Its all fresh and well presented.
We arranged for a taxi to pick us up to take us to the station for the onward journey.
This is a fabulous place. Everything is good about it. The staff are so helpful & accomodating, the room is terrific & the breakfast is great too. We could not ask for more & recommend staying here.

The view of Sasso Caveoso is truly beautiful. There were 3 of us (couple with daughter) and we took Suite n.9 for just one night.
Bed furniture rather disappointing, very spartan, it almost seemed like it was made up.
The low rating is due to the presence of noticeable mold which we only noticed in the evening when there was no one left at the desk to ask for a change to another room. Some maintenance should be done because the plaster is coming off. At check out I reported the mold; the staff was not surprised (evidently they were aware), but the suite was rented anyway and at the standard price of the period, without the slightest mention of any form of non-obligation.

The breakfast was an experience itself, full of local fresh local food prepared with extremely care and passion including homemade jam and local toasted almonds…still hot!
Highly recommended!

The friendly and welcoming staff immediately put us at ease. The room we stayed in was very nice, clean and equipped with all comforts.
The breakfast was top. Relaxing lounge music, a refined environment and many options to choose from, both sweet and savory (I totally fell in love with the artisanal yoghurt from a local dairy).
Ai terraces will definitely be our first choice if we decide to return to Matera😊
