Not wanting to sleep on the rocks and finding the hotels on the floor considerably expensive, we stayed in this comfortable B&B in the new part of Matera near the hospital. The city center and the Sassi are half an hour away on foot but there is the convenience of private parking right in front of the room, therefore very useful for those reaching Matera by car.
It is a studio apartment on the ground floor with a kitchenette and a beautiful bathroom with window. The owner, very kind, filled the refrigerator with water, milk, yogurt, fruit, cheeses and cold cuts. There is also plenty of toast, snacks, tea and coffee. Then every morning, at an agreed time, he brings fresh croissants, bread or focaccia. Very quiet, with a beautiful orchard full of pomegranate trees full of fruit, comfortable bed.
Normally I prefer hotel structures to B&Bs but if you want good accommodation in Matera, basic but comfortable, this is the right structure. Very recommended.

Owner very kind, small but functional apartment with kitchenette. It is not in the vicinity of the Sassi but having the car was not a problem. Everything you need for breakfast is present, plus the lady in the morning brought us fresh pastry croissants. Recommended

I was in Matera on October this year and stayed in sweet B&B Le Sorbole for one week. My hosts: Rafaella, Antonio and Simeone were genuine, sweet, helpful and fun!!! I got a really nice and cosy room. Everything were very clean: room, kitchen and toilet!. I really appreciated that they gave me a fruits from their garden. It was delicious! If you have any question, don’t hesitate to ask the owner of any information. They’re really helpful and kind They recommend me a good restaurant, place to visit and other beautiful place (romantic, calm, without tourist). If you need to take a rest and perfect place to stay- choose Le Sorbole! It made my stay in Matera really enjoyable! I do recommend it!

We stayed in the B&B "Le Sorbole" in Matera for only two nights, but we had a very pleasant time. The family which runs the B&B welcomed us very friendly and they even picked us up from our rather far away bus stop.
There is a typical Italian breakfast every morning, consisting of bread, various sweet spreads, a drink by choice, croissants, cookies and fruit - all in all a more than sufficient breakfast to start the day with a lot of energy.
The entire appartement is very clean and comfortable and the B&B is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood. This also leads to the only very small downside of the B&B - it's not exactly in the city centre and the only ways to really get there are on foot (ca. 25min walk) or by bus, but with busses that seem to never really appear (or maybe if you wait in the sun for a long time), walking is perhaps the best option. By car it's obviously very easy to get into town and Matera is, unlike many other Italian places, relatively calm in terms of traffic.A laundry is very close nearby.
The family offered us help and they ordered pizza for us in Italian as our Italian was not really fit to order via phone. When we had to leave, the family's mother took us to the train station by car.
All in all, I can only speak very positively about "Le Sorbole" and I can recommend it to anyone who plans to visit Matera, which in itself is an extraordinarily beautiful city with a compelling history.
