The city of Matera looks like a nativity scene... especially in the evening. The location assigned to us (La Torre) is a stone's throw from Piazza del Duomo, in the center. It allows you to visit everything with extreme comfort. Furthermore, it is an apartment with a kitchen, very large with a fabulous mezzanine. Highly recommended. Pets allowed at a cost of 15 euros per day.

The apartment was my home for a week, I use the term "home" because this is how it feels when you are welcomed with so much warmth. The owner is very friendly and helpful, he will be able to advise you on how to best appreciate the city and the surrounding places.

The dwelling is in the heart of the Sassi and from there you can easily reach all points of major interest.
Rooms are clean, the beds very comfortable and you can enjoy a magnificent view, especially in the evening very romantic.

I love photography and the pictures I took from my bedroom window are priceless.

I use to travel a lot and I rarely return to a place I have already visited, but I will definitely return here, it is a magical place!

We (my friends and I) loved our stay at Dimora Santa Barbara. It's right in the centre. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. We were mesmerized by its high ceiling and even though it was winter season, the room was toasty. The view from the room was definitelly the best part of it, absolutelly breathtaking. Ivan, the owner, is very helpful and nice person. You won’t regret staying here.

Clean and quite comfortable room, we had a problem with the boiler, which left us without hot water (we took a cold shower), reported at 7pm, we received a reply from the technician that we were not able to set the knob, that the boiler was ok. They only checked the boiler the next morning and realized it had a problem. I think it is not acceptable to calmly intervene the next day questioning the customer's opinion, without even checking.
The location is excellent for getting around the centre, but in case of problems you have to make do.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at Dimora Santa Barbara for two nights this summer and were absolutely amazed. The room is on a perfect location that couldn’t be more in the old city centre. It is a 20 metre walk to the duomo square! The room has a nice rustique look, was very clean and tidy and had an amazing view over the valley with the caves! Also all the amenities that we find necessary were present in the room.

Ivan the host is a lovely person, of which you can feel that he sincerely wants to make it as comfortable as possible for the guests. As someone that is a native to Matera he can also give you all the inside tips and tricks for the city, all the good places to eat, the most beautiful places to see. And we sure did use these tips, that made us fall in love with the city and have a very good time with Ivan. It was our first time in matera but definitely not the last. Its just a vibe and look that is absolutely unmatched compared to any other place. And of our seven week trip, this was absolutely one of the most special places we visited!

All in all we have nothing but good to say about our stay in dimora santa Barbara. And if you are thinking about visiting Matera, go to Ivan and you won’t regret it!

Matera is a city with a story and this is how our trip started. We met Ivan at a public car park outside of the old town, got into his car and travelled to his B&B. It's a little walk to the rooms and nothing like we've experienced before but a fabulous experience. The room was newly refurbished, but still with an old charm linked to the sassi and boy, what a view!

Thank you for looking after us so well.

Location, location, location. Close to everything, yet secluded and quiet. The view from the room is stunning, we got undisturbed view over the whole Murgia and Sassi.

Breakfast was up to the level. Fresh bakery delights are delivered every morning to the room. Ask for the Cornetto with Ricotta cheese;-)

Little drawback is the shower: either too hot or too cold. However just a little stone in the shoe considered everything else!

Highly recommended.
