This was my first visit to Amalfi & will not be the last! This hotel is charming. Christian & staff could not be more helpful. Our room was great--looking out over the main street with lots going on, especially in the morning! Great little balcony to watch the world go by. Breakfast was continental on the rooftop with pretty incredible view of the mountains between the other buildings. If you're looking for something comfortable, quiet & central, but without all the bells & whistles of a major hotel chain--this would be a perfect spot for you. The only drawback for some might be the stairs if anyone has mobility issues, this would be difficult to get to. I would happily recommend this hotel and so appreciate being well looked after.
The hotel is 5 mins walk away from the Amalfi bus stop. There are just about 15 stairs to reach the hotel. It's located in the prime location of Amalfi town. However, the room is just alright. There was too much space wasted in the rooms which could have been utilized in the bathroom. There wasnt much space to move around in the bathroom or even stand in the shower. It also smelled of drainage water. The bed and bedsheets were clean however, we had to get some towels changed as there were some spots on them. The breakfast served on the terrace was very much alright and consisted of mainly croissants and breads. However, the staff is very helpful.
We booked this hotel many months in advance for a family wedding.. Two of us shared a room on this old establishment.. We spent 4 nights at this small hotel.. İt is central and convenient.. Only downfall with our stay was the payment.. They took the payment one day prior to our departure date without notifiying us.. We could have , would have paid it in Euros.. Please let them know about your payment method before your departure date. Other than that it was clean, room was OK..
We've visited Amalfi many times over the years but this was our first visit to the Antica Repubblica and we're sure it won't be our last. This wonderful hotel is charming and full of character. Other reviews have mentioned the helpfulness of the staff and rightly so. Like many others before us we had a very warm welcome and were made to feel that nothing is too much trouble. Our room (il Conte) was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom could perhaps do with a bit of updating in a couple of corners but nothing to detract from the pleasure we felt on returning to our cool and beautifully cleaned room each afternoon. We loved the view from the terrace over Amalfi's main street (so much to watch!) but also appreciated how good the windows were at keeping the noise out at night - we slept very well in our large comfortable bed. The roof terrace was delightful - we loved having breakfast there in the mornings. Mostly standard fare for Italian hotel breakfasts but with the welcome addition of various hot savouries (including baby sausages on some mornings). I also enjoyed the varying baked items and I'm grateful that the hotel managed to keep up with my insatiable need for nutella in the mornings! :-) We'd recommend using the room terrace in the afternoons as well - beautifully quiet and peaceful spot to read or write postcards. We also had a sneaky night cap up there one evening (the room mini bar was well supplied and kept stocked up). So for us, this was a great find with so much going for it. The only slight drawback might be for those who have mobility issues. The hotel doesn't have a lift and the stairs are a little steep, especially those that go to the roof terrace. On the other hand, the access to the hotel isn't nearly as bad as we were expecting - there are some steep steps going up from the main road but there is a slight less direct route from the second, smaller square in Amalfi which limits the steps to about 5 or 6 allowing you to wheel your suitcases along the beautifully characteristic alleyways to the hotel. My husband and I are in our fifties and not at all fit but we had no problems at all. Unless you have particular mobility issues, we can thoroughly recommend this hotel. We're certainly looking forward to our next stay. Thanks to Cristian and the team for making us so welcome and looking after us so well.…
This is a small 7 room hotel which packs a punch. The room was huge and clean. Our room overlooked the central Street going through Amalfi, which was highly amusing on the day a cruise ship came in. This hotel puts you in the middle of everything. Despite this, the room is quiet at night thanks to big double glazed windows. Breakfast on the terrace was a real surprise. A great spread and high quality in a great location to stick up the morning light. Finally, the staff. They could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend
