The Ulisse Deluxe Hostel comes highly recommended for its prime location, close to Corso Italia and key transport links, which travelers find convenient. Guests have extolled the hostel's clean and comfortable rooms, often emphasizing the attentive housekeeping. While the staff has received accolades for their helpfulness, some guests have noted occasional lapses in service.
The hostel's amenities and satisfactory breakfast add to the positive experience, although there have been mentions of additional costs and the need to bring one's own soap. Despite some concerns about air conditioning and value, the hostel maintains a reputation for reasonable pricing.

Detailed Reviews
Ulisse Deluxe hostel was the first hostel I’ve ever stayed in and has definitely set the bar high for my future hostel endeavors. The room and adjacent bathroom was clean, with great lighting and fresh bedding. I stayed in a 4-bed all female dorm. I felt safe with the key card access to my room, and my late check-out was accommodated. Breakfast was an extra $10 a day and it was a great variety of foods (protein, cereal, fruits, cheeses, meats, pastries, juices). The front desk also helped me coordinate a small van to bring me to the airport, and provided me with several restaurant/sightseeing recommendations in the Sorrento area. The hostel is also in the perfect location— only minutes from the popular the main street and side alleys with lots of shopping. Also 5min from Marina Grande which has many waterside restaurants and one of the rare free, public sand beaches. My only complaint was that there was no hand soap in the bathroom, however a small tube of shampoo was provided. Would definitely stay here again.

Honestly? I wasn’t expecting this hostel to be clean, comfortable or nice at all. I booked it because it was the most affordable accommodation in Sorrento and I was only staying one night. I arrived around 5:30pm and had a little difficulty finding the place (it isn’t where Apple Maps shows it is), but I asked a nearby market for help and they pointed me in the right direction.
Check-in was simple and reception was friendly. I booked a 6-bed female bunk and was pleasantly surprised when I walked into my room to find only 4 beds. There were no bunk beds which was a relief - just 4 single twin beds arranged in the room. Only 4 girls to share a bathroom which is a big relief from other hostels I’ve stayed at during this trip. The bed was simple but comfortable. The AC worked well. And the hostel building itself feels much more like a hotel that’s been converted to a “hostel” with multiple people to a hotel room. Very quiet. Very clean. Complimentary towel (which again is a huge perk when staying at a hostel), and a bottle of shampoo or soap given as well (it wasn’t labeled). Great location and close walking distance to a variety of restaurants. Not a far walk from the train station either. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking to stay in Sorrento on a budget.

This hotel is in a great location as it is just 5 minutes walk from the main street and town square. The reception staff are very welcoming and will help you with any queries, book trips and if you don’t have a secure pocket when you are going out you can easily drop off the key. The breakfast is nice as it is a buffet, there is toast, eggs and cereal although there is also a wide array of cakes and croissants with jam or Nutella. At breakfast there is also orange, pineapple and tropical juice (and bottled water). The rooms are comfortable and we had a good sized family room, there is plenty of hanging and drawer space and there is spare bedding and a spare pillow if you should need it. The pool is not part of the hotel and you have to pay for it (10 euro). There is a nice 25m pool as well as a warm children’s pool. Also everybody swimming needs to wear a swimming hat so remember to bring one, (although they do sell them for €5). When we went they were quite a lot of school trips as well so it was quite busy. However it was still quiet at nighttime in our room. If you want to visit Pompei the train takes around 40 minutes and it is busy so you need to get there early if you want to get a seat.

The welcome was warm and helpful. However, the window in the room was tiny, the aircondition couldn’t be modified inside the room. The rooms are not sound proof. We could hear the people beside us using the washroom and other guests screamed in the hallway until 4 or 5am. The next morning no one asked us about our stay. The service was very much a factory line - once you paid and stayed the night, they stopped caring.
We paid 90€ for one night and could hardly sleep from all the noise, the freezing room, and the light coming in from under the door. Would not recommend.

It's a solid basic hotel. We stayed in a room witha balcony and en suite bathroom. It was very good value for the money but there were issues. 1) The refrigerator in the room only worked every once in a while. All of our leftovers spoiled and we had to take all of our drinks warm. 2) The wifi tended to crash around 9:00 p.m. or so. Every time I tried to either upload and manage photos taken during the day, or watch some streaming TV before I went to sleep, I wasn't able to. 3) The breakfast included a lot of variety but most of it was the least appealing version of that food (the cakes weren't tasty, the cereal was like cardboard, the breads were hard). That said, their coffee machine was fantastic and the ham and cheese was usually good with the rolls to make a sandwich. And they had good apples. 4) There was a small fitness room that was adequate to the task but the air conditioning didn't work well in there so you had to prop the door open to keep it cool. We do have high praise for the housekeeping staff, who were there every day and kept things very tidy and well stocked.
The location was quietly very good. You could walk to Marina Grande easily as well as into the main part of town for shopping/dining. Not much of a view and not in the middle of the action - but close enough that it didn't feel like a problem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ulisse Deluxe. Our family room accommodated all four of us comfortably, and was an exceptionally large room so we were able to spread out nicely. The breakfast buffet each morning was exceptionally large - tons of selection! The Ulisse is in a good location - close walks to Marina Grande and the main shopping/dining areas while not right in the middle of the madness of Sorrento in summer, so it was quiet. Be aware if you are arriving by train with luggage it's going to be a bit of a hike with your bags through some narrow pedestrian streets, and those streets are crowded with people at all hours. Nothing unmanageable, but if you have mobility issues it would be best to do a taxi. Once the luggage is safely in the room, it's no problem at all to go everywhere you need on foot. The staff was pleasant, friendly and we had no communication barriers. We never saw the dormitory portion of the property so cannot comment on that, but everyone at breakfast seemed content and relaxed. This is a beautiful property with an elegant atmosphere. I know it is a hostel, but it certainly felt in all ways like a hotel for our stay. If you are uncertain about the hostel part, don't let that dissuade you from booking one of the hotel rooms. We had no regrets in staying here, and enjoyed our stay here. We were a family of 4 staying in June 2023.

We are just back from staying in the Ulisse Deluxe. I don't understand how its considered a hostel when its very much a hotel. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. They were cleaned every day which was great as I thought I'd read a review that said they don't get cleaned. The breakfast was basic but nice. I had eggs toast and yoghurt every morning.
The staff were mostly friendly although I found they seemed reluctant to give out exact information on things like the spa. We'd looked forward to the pool however you have to pay 10 euro pp per day as it doesn't actually belong to the hotel and it only opens from 7am to 2pm every day, so we didn't bother. The girl that checked us in was really nice ( she mentioned her boyfriend was a bartender, I hope that's a good identifier for the company as I didn't catch a name). She was so helpful and gave us a great first impression.
The location was very good right between the centre and the port so very handy.
Finally I'd read reviews about the lack of kettle however I just asked at the bar each night for hot water and was given it.
Our only negatives on this lovely place was that the streaming services are blocked by security so although on the TV, can't be accessed and there was a large school tour when we were there that weere noisy at night. Not the control of the hotel though and overall we loved our stay.

Definitely a disappointment. The WiFi here is very unreliable with regular long lasting drops, and when it is working it is pretty slow. The aircon in our room had to be set to 5degC before it would do anything and even then it was of little impact. They say that breakfast is 7-10, but really don’t bother beyond 0830 unless you want cake or cereal; the hot food, pastries, and cheese/ham will all be gone and is not replenished. The pools that are in the building are no use at all if you are a family as both refuse access if you are under 17. The shuttle service is completely unreliable and turns up hours late to collect you, and frankly is the same price as a taxi anyway (for four). Some staff here are great, but most are very unhelpful and far from friendly. Don’t expect hotel service or facilities.

We had a nice stay in the hotel it’s not luxurious but is comfortable and clean. The location is quite good, a minute or two to the Corso Italia and close to laundry facilities, supermarkets and one of the main pickup points for day trips (meaning we don’t have to get up too early!)
I had to make a few changes with my booking due to a change in my dates. There was no trouble with this and the hotel responded instantly every time I contacted them by email.
The checkin staff were good too. They gave us access to rooms despite us arriving ahead of check in time. They gave us a great steer on a couple of restaurants that I probably would have missed and were better or as good as those with queues.
I found the breakfast sub-par but this is an optional extra so you can opt to use the restaurant’s outside too

This is more a 3 star hotel than an hostel. The room had everything I needed. You can have breakfast for 10 euros, and the major sights of Sorrento, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. Overall I had a good experience at a reasonable price.
